    That’s not how you get Trump voters.

    Cruz has to call his wife ugly and scream that his dad is a murderer

    In this race, I have gone from leaning Democrat to toss-up. I need more info on this caravan allegation.

    I agree he probably didn't and doesn't expect to win. He probably did expect to burnish his credentials nationally and within the party. He can probably get an agency appointment of some kind to continue to advance his career.

    I think high turnout helps Democrats. The old white folks in Montgomery who turned out for Ted Cruz also turned out for him 6 years ago. Old white people are good at voting. So increases in turnout are going to come disproportionately from other demographics even in areas dominated by old white people. Besides which, the turnout in Montgomery isn't a aberration but indicative of a very broad high turnout phenomenon. It gives Beto the best shot he could hope for.

    One, he's attractive and charismatic. Two, his opponent is ugly and reviled. Three, you gotta respect his work ethic. Four, he's been running an unabashed liberal campaign without going negative -- what better face to put on the party (ironic that being a hail mary candidate allows you to run a 'principled' campaign that makes you a national posterboy even while making your election even more unlikely). Five, a Texas Senate win is a 'steal' which is critical for flipping the Senate against the odds. Six, it empowers liberal dreamcasting that one day the young urban millennials and the hispanics will eventually be so numerous and so energized about the Democrats that they'll flip the state forever. Who doesn't like to dream?

    I'd say it has to be single digits. With a double-digit loss, they'll say he's just another Wendy Davis.

    Like exploring the endemic misogyny and racism in the Republican party that pushes women and minorities away?

    I'd say the caravan, and the larger illegal immigration issue which it is a part of, is/are pretty important.

    Well, I was thinking that CNN promotes leftist propaganda; and many seem to think that Fox does the opposite. Although I generally find Fox more credible.

    Illegal immigration might be an issue, but the caravan is not illegal immigration and there is no need for that to be an issue at all.

    The video comes from a group that has falsified videos like this, broken into members of Congress' offices, and has made a career on lying. What other info do you need about where that came from?

    Pretty ****ing pathetic that you (I expect it from RussoLegend) would post anything by O'Keefe, a thoroughly discredited POS. No Alex Jones? Breitbart? Kremlin press release?

    Not just the caravan or illegal immigration, but all immigration period. It has been an issue left to fester since 1986 and we've let the problem get to crisis levels. The Democrats had a window of opportunity in 2009-10, but spent it on other things. Even after that, they had a bipartisan opportunity but for whatever reason couldn't get it over the finish line which was a big missed opportunity. Now Trump has an opportunity to impose his solution (which I think he's botched, honestly; despite all the executive orders, he hasn't gotten anything significant through Congress) and he's been driving the narrative on it. It's an important issue, but one that Democrats probably can't win on right now so they are doing what I think is the politically smart thing which is to downplay the urgency and pretend its a made-up problem. But at some point when they have some political power, they'd be wise to tackle this issue in a very proactive way. If the Democrats can't communicate a liberal vision for immigration policy, the white nationalist vision for it will win out.

    So like I said, a debunked crap slinger. Maybe in the future, anyone who is tempted to post anything by project Veritas can think twice. We can have real discussions here and nobody would end up with egg on their face for posting his garbage.

    @TheresTheDagger , any comment?

    I'm embarrassed actually that I took it more seriously, but I did so b/c you're usually better than that. I didn't realize the source of the material at first. Yuck.

    So now that the caravan issue has been debunked, have you gone back to leaning Democrat?
