This guy is too scared to play in the NBA so why would you want him? Why even keep talking about him? Lock this thread. Now.

He didn't entered the draft by choice. International players automatically enter the draft once they reached the age of 22.

But he also indicated that money was tempting and wanted a team he could be starter. Houston fits neither criteria.

But in a recent interview on a rainy day in Spain, Llull repeated the message he’s sent to the Rockets for years: He’s not planning to leave Madrid.

“It’s home,” said Llull, who is 30. “I came here when I was 19 years old. I was a kid. I grew up here as a player and person. I’m really happy to be here, and this is the place I want to be.”

He’s technically under contract with Real Madrid for three more years, but there are millions of excellent reasons for him to accept a buyout and leave early for the Rockets. “The money,” Llull said. “They pay a lot of money there.” There is also nothing left for him to accomplish in Spain. He’s a two-time Euroleague champion with Real Madrid and three-time Eurobasket gold medalist with his national team who once played in crunchtime for an Olympic gold medal against LeBron James and Kevin Durant.

A star in Europe who doesn’t want to be a backup in the NBA is a classic example of a big fish in a small pond. Llull is more like a whale. But that’s not how he views his situation.

The way he sees it, he lives comfortably in the capital of his native country and gets to hunt for championships as the hero of his hometown team, and who could ask for anything more?

@D-rock I dont know what to say to you about this. Its quite clear from the article, especially the parts I just pasted, that while the NBA does hold things that he can never get in the Spanish league, and that Morey will keep trying, he is most likely passing on whatever opportunities are offered elsewhere to stay in Spain where he is very happy.

So again, I laugh when people include his rights in trade ideas as if its worth something

Nothing you copied and pasted invalidates the point being made that Llull still has value and is still playing at a high level. Morey continues to chase him all this time for a reason.

But stick to your agenda, it really does not matter to me.

    Wow.
I said he’s not likely coming to the NBA. Everything I pasted insinuated he doesn’t have intention of coming to NBA, he’s very happy in Spain and doesn’t view the NBA as a missed opportunity.

And you —— nevermind. Good luck at life

Sure he is a quality player and has value as such …. just not much value for an NBA franchise when he has no (current) intentions to come to the association..

Low value and no value are not the same. Zop was bemoaning why Llull rights were being included in trades inferring zero value.

There are many examples of lesser player rights being traded. Rockets being involved in quite a few.

The Freedom of Movement rules make Llull even more valuable *IF* he comes over. He can still be a good 3rd guard as a combo guard to shoot and attack the rim. He is also a clutch shot maker which is valuable. He can talk all of this stuff about wanting to stay, but we'll see. There might come a time where the Rockets could really use his services and offer him the FULL MLE and that money will talk.

I am not writing off Llull. I think @BimaThug and I are the only people left on Llull Island.
