it depends... holding off until is surely getting them better offers than when this story first broke. the slow starts by all the teams pursuing has made them more desperate than minny. someone will break if they keep losing and give them what they want within the next month... but if they wait too long then they become the desperate ones again or lose him for nothing. they cant trade dunn, lavine, and markkanen and have nothing to show for it.
I find it intriguing that Butler decides to sit out starting today which is when Knight and Chriss can be traded together. Maybe he wants to play with Gordon. Haha.
he is making 26 mil and averaging 10 ppg. they would be idiots take on that salary. that is not a good deal for a team that claims they still want to compete. porter is playing with an all-star back court that gets most of the attention and he still is only shooting 41%, 27% from 3. he isnt going to be any better with KAT and wiggins.
It's a golden zone, they are in it right now. Teams became desperate for him at the start of the season (right now) so that they can still work him into the team and build chemistry. The deadline will be too late. Because many teams that were in it now may be so far out of contention that they no longer care about Butler. Washington and Miami and Houston are doing this to improve their team now. If the Rockets are like ranked 11th around February you think we offer 4 firsts? No, we become sellers for more young talent at that point, not a veteran star like Butler. Same for Wizards and Heat. Philly is the only team I can see making a deal at the deadline but again...at that point it would be because of the opposite. That they want to compete with the Raptors and Celtics and Bucks and so they would not want to lose much for Butler. Their mentality will basically be to get him for as less as possible or move on from the deal. Right now they are in the golden zone. Right now the desperate teams are buyers because they feel they can salvage their season, wait too long and they become sellers thinking about next year and Butler, who is an expiring, then becomes irrelevant in those plans.
That tweet was stamped 1:30pm EST. Which means you can expect that tweet to be posted on this board at 1:30pm EST.
Talk is for sure happening. Will the Wolves bite? Rockets pressing hard for a completion. Tillman told DM to get it done or move on. Feels that that this is having an effect on the players.
Jimmy Butler is not playing in the Timberwolves’ game on Wednesday night against Utah, the latest step in a six-week standoff between the disgruntled All-Star and the team that has not yet granted his wish to be traded, league sources told The Athletic. Butler showed up to the team’s shootaround on Wednesday morning, but did not participate, sources said. After the session was over, he had a brief conversation with coach and president Tom Thibodeau about his decision and declined interview requests. Thibodeau said he would sit out for “precautionary rest and general soreness.” But the Timberwolves had Tuesday off and also have an off day on Thursday before beginning a West Coast trip. Thibodeau denied that the absence was related to the trade request that has engulfed this team since before training camp started. “He missed all of training camp, basically, so he has general soreness,” Thibodeau said. The Wolves play again on Friday night at Golden State. Thibodeau said they would see how Butler feels on Thursday before making any determination going forward. Butler’s absence comes two games after he missed the morning shootaround prior to a game against Milwaukee. The team said at the time it was because of an illness, but Butler did play in the game, which the Wolves lost by 30 points. He has been continually frustrated by Thibodeau, GM Scott Layden and owner Glen Taylor refusing to this point to pull the trigger on a move, sources said. Taylor has assured Butler that the Wolves will trade him when they find a deal that they believe is good enough to part with a player of his caliber. Houston was the most recent team to get aggressive in trying to make a deal with the Wolves, offering four first-round picks as part of a package last week. But the Wolves have been reluctant to accept that deal, not wanting to take on Brandon Knight as part of the package to make the trade work from a financial perspective. Several Wolves players just shook their heads as they left the arena in the morning facing another day full of Butler drama. Jeff Teague will also miss the game against the Jazz with a knee injury. “We’ve got to step up,” Wolves center Gorgui Dieng said. “When you lose two starters, you just gotta play harder. I think we’ve got enough guys to win any type of game. We’re just going to play harder and try to win.”
Well, tbh we are only 6 games into the season and so you are not including his whole body of work there. He's an insanely good shooter who can actually defend. But I see your point, they could try for Richardson from Miami who's on a better contract(but they are hesitant to deal him), but the thing about that is its not better than our 4 picks. So if its not the Wizards or Maimi....then we are all thats left.
I dont think it is in DM's hands minny needs to bite and say yes. our offers are already on the table
Capela will be fine, he has played one game this season with Paul and Harden..... also Chris Paul has played 4 games this year? I'll take my chances with adding Butler...... hell if you add Butler, can play man or switch...... Paul, Butler, PJ and Capela are all good defenders. Even Harden is fine....... the starting 5 defensively is very good with or without switching. On the bench you have Ennis who is a very solid bench player, Gerald Green who is fine, Gary Clark who has been promising and you still have Anthony and MCW for specific match ups........ and that is all assuming that the Rockets only get Butler back and make no other moves. The Rockets with Butler have the pieces to be extremely good, especially in the post season.
