Feels like it has been a week since Codman's last update. And boy did we need a new one. Thank you good sir!

When the "4 Firsts" was announced by Woj, aside from Butler, it got me thinking the same thing. Like, multiple draft picks could be in play for ANYONE.....assuming it is worth it. Makes you think a bit.

 

This whole media leak sounds like something coordinated from the Minnesota side.

4 firsts to a team with no direction and always rebuilding.

 

The Rockets are trying to elevate the perceived value of the 4 first rounders by losing and pretending that Harden is injured. Melo doing his part with great aplomb. We fans must do our part also by loudly complaining about how the Rockets are in trouble to continue elevating the perceived value of the first round picks.

 

It's a little different from that. The Celtics were grabbing picks from bad teams that weren't going to be any good for several years .

I don't think the Rockets are going to be anywhere near a lottery pick in the next 6 to 8 seasons.

I thought Morey was upping the offer in order to get another player apart from Butler in a 3 way trade.

 

I’m sorry but those picks aren’t bottom of the barrel. This guy is an idiot. He knows that jimmy butler, the guy actually in the trade, was drafted 30th overall right? Not to mention all the successful second rounders going back... There is a lot of value in first round picks regardless where you’re drafting.

And those picks would go all the way to 2025. Nobody knows how good or bad of a team we’ll be by then.

 

If the Wolves don't want 4 first round picks, and Morey is intent on keeping Gordon, then Morey could look for a 3rd team, to shop ONE of those picks to trade for a player to send to Minny. So Minny would get something like 2019, 2023, 2025 and the "3rd team" would get the 2021 Rockets pick in exchange for some talent.

That said, the simpler solution is just offering Gordon+Chriss + 2 First round picks.

 

I was just reading that so far this season Porter has been pretty bad for the Wizards, apparently he got benched the last game and both Oubre and Green are playing more/better than him, anybody can confirm?

He might be a player that Minnie would be willing to take back, and might be available for a couple of 1st or maybe even one with fillers from us or Minnie...the only problem here is that getting Porter puts the Wolves in luxury territory, and i'm pretty sure they would want to avoid that in any trade at this point. They would've to send out other salary, around 5/6M (e.g. Tolliver) i think.

 

Codman mentioned Tobias Harris. I don't know if it was personal preference or something he'd heard; and I don't know if I want the Clippers to start collecting star players again. But Tobias fits the bill.

 

Eric Gordon has been horrendous so far.

Probably a blip.

However, I feel like he also took a downturn when the Rockets added Lou Williams two years ago at the deadline. Meaning when there's a second "6th man" option off the bench, Eric gets a little confused about role. Which is understandable.

Unless the Rockets are trading or waiving Melo, it might make sense to move EG anyway, if you can get value. Gerald Green can take up the off the bench just shoot threes guy.

Not that anything like this would ever happen, but
EG, Tucker, Knight, Nene, Chriss, first rounder(s) for Bradley Beal and Otto Porter Jr. would be interesting, lol
