Gilbert and Altman to media: We're not tanking. We just signed Love to extension so we're going to compete for a title this year Gilbert and Altman to Ty: Stop playing the Vets. Need more minutes from Sam Dekker. Thad and Tilman to media: Luxury tax isn't a concern. I'll pay whatever it takes to win a 'ship Thad and Tilman to creditors that he borrowed $2 billions to buy the Rockets: C'mon man, the interest payments on those bonds aren't due till next month, why you keep asking me if I got the money? You know I'm good for the money. I just need to payoff $2 billion and I'm good...that ain't nothing.
Possibly the worst coach in the NBA. I feel like the Cavs retained him to convince Love that they were going to compete, and once Love signed the extension they could dump him and now trade Love with a contract (rather than give him the leverage to say he'll walk wherever he wants in the summer). Fair enough. If players get to make demands like that, teams get to strategize against it. The problem of course is that the Cavs are morons and they signed Love to a contract that makes him a risk.
Remember when a bunch of people said Ty Lue was a good coach lmfao. Anyone can look like a decent coach if you have star players. You would have to be a horrendous coach to struggle with a good enough unit (McHale).
Expecatation was/is to tank for the top pick. They’re 0-6 so I don’t understand what the issue is. Sounds like Lue was not only doing his job well (losing games) but he was actually doing fcktard Gilbert a favor by losing games while playing veterans. By playing/showcasing vets he was increasing their trade value for other young players/draft picks. Once you get max return from said veterans and the trade deadline passes that’s when you want to play the younger guys.
I don't remember anyone saying Ty was a good coach. He could have gone 70-12 and people still say "Coach Lebron" I think everyone said, "must be lucky to be selected by Lebron. $5 million a year to watch Lebron is a nice job." I'm surprised they fired him because he would be good to get the #1 pick overall because he's such a bad coach. Play more Sam Dekker, TTBOY Thompson, and JR SMith = ZION!
I would have loved so much to see what Phil Jackson could do with today's Cavs or Suns. I don't believe for a second he'd be a top 50 coach of all time if he wasn't gifted Jordan/Shaq/Bryant/Pippen.
