FOUR 1st round draft picks. MAN, WOJ from the top rope yesterday. Here are my thoughts

    - That's a lot of picks. No way they are offering that.

    - Then again, if they are, it is "every other year" 2019, 2021, 2023, 2025. The '19 and '21 picks are in the late 20's. '23 and '25 are dicier.

    - You have Harden and CP3. This is WIN NOW. If you aren't doing everything to WIN NOW...what are you doing?

    - The margins of error are small now. Butler gives you a bigger margin for error.

    - In theory, it is BK+Chriss+4 1sts for Jimmy Butler. BUT, if you ALSO add Ty Jones (who could be traded into our TPE) he could act as a 1st round talent to get back to ease the 1st pain. Rockets also have Gary Clark right now who looks like a late 1st rounder. The Rockets WILL have picks in 2020 and 2022 to fill out the talent. So they are not totally bereft of crops. Also, down the road the Rockets could pivot and trade either Gordon or Capela for a pick. They have options. Look at the bigger picture.

I am making this trade if I am the Rockets. I doubt Minny gets a better offer.

Wolves play 2 more games before Oct 31st. Same as Rockets. Wolves DO play on Oct 31st against the Jazz. Hopefully a deal gets done "that day."

I feel bad about not knowing who it was - @cyberx or @Codman but one of them mentioned that Morey was relentless and was trying to get Butler without giving up Gordon or Tucker. We all kind of laughed that off not thinking there was a way to do it.

Then again, no one would have thought to offer up FOUR 1st round picks to do it.

Just sayin' The INSIDERS knew this was a potential gambit for Morey.

    They knew!

Looks like the Rockets offer leak is leverage.

Makes a lot of sense. Minny has been trying to get the Heat back in the game. The Heat didn't feel like there was any real competition so they were playing hardball. Leaking this helps bring Miami back to the table.

Well, of course Minnie leaked this to use Rockets as leverage. October 31st is approaching. Now you see who gets serious.

If Morey doesn't somehow include Gordon, though....not necessarily Gordon and 4 first rounders....

I'm shocked at it too. It's a desperate move on the part of the Rockets, if indeed it is true.

I know Morey won't ... but if I offer 4 first rounders and Min's response is to use that offer as leverage .... I'm done negotiating.

Butler doesn't want to be there and he's going to leave for nothing at the end of the year . 4 firsts even if a couple of them are likely to be late .... is more than a fair offer for that kind of situation .

I'm sure MIN wants a shiny young player from BOS or Philly , but BOS and philly have no incentive to make that kind of move . Miami isn't nearly as locked into win-now as we are and isn't going to offer anything like that in terms of picks .

This is a cluster **** and if a deal doesn't get done on the 31st , I say you start reducing this offer . The longer it drags on the more likely we are to start playing well and want to stand pat . What if knight comes back and starts playing well ?

I understand we can't complete this trade until the 31st .... so no reason to get too pissed off yet . But if that day comes and MIN hasn't moved on this .... things could get even unglier between them and butler really quickly

So Morey's job was getting Sota and Miami moving to the table again.

Once again Morey comes out of left field and surprises everybody with the never thought of impossible situation. The inevitable CFs meltdown ensues. Butler to Houston is a no brainer IF he signs long term.

Is it safe to say that if Minny sits Butler tonight that a deal has been agreed upon?
