And the very report you cite says: "As would be expected, wealthy countries like the U.S., tend to spend more per person on health care and related expenses than lower income countries." But that's only part of the equation. Anything that the government gets involved in will drive up costs and make things more inefficient. There's no way that universal healthcare will not drive up costs, for every American. Lastly, (for now), there are those of us who object to having any more mandates or taxes imposed on us. If you want to go to the doctor 10 times per year (or more), pay for it yourself. In fact, everybody should pay for their own expenses. But universal healthcare will place your expenses on me, which I object to. That's my basic viewpoint.
You are correct on that point. Young people will be subsidizing older people. People who don't make claims will be subsidizing those that do. That is the nature of insurance. Where we differ is -- I don't support this. In a free society (ie, freedom), we should not be forced to pay for others' lifestyles. Live the right way. Healthy. Eat right. Don't drink too much. Don't engage in stupid activities. Then, you don't need the medical system. I get my medical checkup every year out of some sordid sense of obligation, but not because I really need to. Everybody takes the dirt nap at some point. In the time that we have on this planet, why should I have to pay for others' expenses?
This could be re-phrased as: "financial/personal freedom or increased taxes/statism?" That's why Beto is behind in the polls, and his message doesn't sell very well in Texas.
That isn't true at all. Type 1 Diabetes has nothing to do with unhealthy living or diet. You can get heart disease despite healthy living and diet. You can get cancer despite healthy living and diet. You could get different organ failures and need transplants despite healthy living and diet. There are numerous syndromes and conditions that require a lifetime of medical care that can happen despite healthy living and diet. It can reduce your chance to get some illnesses and end up needing medical attention. But it doesn't change your genes. You can't control everything regarding your medical needs.
Ok I finally had a look at this. It was not very illuminating. All it says is that US citizens pay more. But it offers no analysis (that I could find) as to *why* this is. I maintain that insurance raises costs, by making things seem "free." And in that "illusion," people use the system more, whether they really need to or not.
Cheating????? Oh brother. You know that many people were not as diligent as this voter was in checking their ballot. I hope there is a way to go back and check other votes at the very least from everyone using those types of machines.
Nobody knows if those votes are enough to change the election one way or the other. We are starting with trying to have as fair and honest election as possible. For someone who is in favor of voter ID which combats a non-existent problem, you have no concern when a potential real example of real cheating is presented.
And no one knows if this isn't just a hoax intended to rally a base and provide an excuse for why a candidate down 7 points in the polls will lose a race. All it would take to create that picture is to pick straight ticket Democrat then change the pick for senate before taking the picture that I'm pretty sure is a violation of voting laws.....
Right, I'm calling for people's arrest, but it is worth investigating and ensuring that votes were properly counted. So you would welcome an investigation? That would find out whether it was an intentional hoax or actual cheating.
Good, those who took the pictures SHOULD be arrested for it. They are attempting to create a panic and spread distrust of the system by engineering a screen shot and pretending they didn't set it up that way.
So you've changed from saying no one knows if it was a hoax to assuming it was definitely a hoax. Do you have evidence to back up that assertion? How did you reach the conclusion that they definitely falsified the picture? If they were creating a hoax, then, by all means, hold them accountable.
I think it's more likely a hoax than not a hoax. It's illegal to even have your phone on while in a polling place because it'll illegal to take a photo within 100 feet of them. You have someone who went in willing to break the law, so why wouldn't they be willing to create some propaganda by picking straight party Democratic and then changing their senate vote for a picture? IMO that's more likely than the vast conspiracy against young Robert Francis.
I already told you I fully support arresting the guy for breaking the law and taking the picture so of course I think it should be looked into. When you get some evidence of a grand conspiracy against your boy Francis, let me know.
