To me the rationales of offering those picks are 1) one clever way of outbidding Miami (known not even willing to include ANY non-protected picks) 2) down the road will these picks have obtained better player(s) than Butler? 3) Morey and team crunched #newmath and concluded that values of picks are in the decline.

You gotta do this deal. Window is so small with CP3.

I want to line up with this acquisition but I just cannot see where he fits in a way that moves the needles... he's another ball-dominant player with not quite the 3-ball proficiency of the guy (EGo) he presumably replaces in the lineup. I guess you could cut/move MCW for an upgraded version at that roster spot...

I think the deal only makes sense if we get Gibson as well as Butler, which would mean including Gordon, but both Butler and Gibson are on expiring deals. Major risk. Gibson would be a really good addition, though.

Why didn’t we offer this for Kawhi? He would be worth it.

That's taking in nearly 35 M . How can Houston send out so many players? EG is the only one with value here.

I'm wondering about that as well. Gordon, Nene, and Joe Chee for Butler in one deal, Knight for Gibson in a separate deal. Picks tossed in where necessary. Lots of picks.

The Rockets didn't anticipate so many problems.
I doubt if SAS would have agreed to that. They didn't want to see Houston winning their 3rd NBA Championship.

SAS: If you're gonna offer 4 picks, why not offer 4 picks and Capela for Anthony Davis? If you're going all in & Butler toughens you and Butler elevates your defensive prowess, excuse me, pick up the phone and call New Orleans. We know he'l want out. He'll announce to the world he'll want out. I like Jimmy Butler ... but is that enough to offset or overcome the Warriors? I don't believe that'll be the case.

SAS: Move puts them top three in the West.
Max: 2nd best with a chance to take out the Warriors.

    I can't say I disagree!

This is risking our future, but it's a no brainer in my opinion. We have a really small window considering CP3s age.
