I don't think we would offer that much . That would just be insane . Butler isn't >>>>>> than Gordon . And those two picks in 23' and 25' are way too much to be giving up if the upgrade is from Gordon to butler .

It only makes sense IMO to give up Jose picks if we are REALLY improving our chances during the core years ... which is probably 1-3 more years (including this year)

It's not going to be easy to replace Gordon . Especially once we give up our firsts every other year and are truly capped out with butler.

I think the deal still makes lots of sense from MIN perspective even if it's knight and Chriss . 4 first rounders is a ton of ammo , even if 2 of them project to be late . Those still allow you more flexibility ... that plus the bonus of 2 later (probably minimally protected) 1sts is huge .

Right now the 23 and 25 picks are potential lottery picks . Remember when we got James harden for Kevin Martin and a couple of lottery picks ?

Plus , what else is MIN gonna get ?

Totally agree, people are acting like we've won a bunch of ships, teams that sit back RISK being stuck in mediocrity. We have a great squad and should be aiming for it all.

Agree to disagree, I like Gordon I think he’s a good player. I also think this board overrates him.

He has long stretches every season of poor play. He’s an avg 3 pt shooter since getting here. He is good defensively and getting to the rim but butler is a top 10 player and a two way guy at that.

This picks in 23 and 25 is why minny might bite.

Sure those picks prob will be valuable but the rockets can’t look back 5 years from now with a 34 year old harden a retired cp3 and a 1st round pick wondering what if I traded this for jimmy butler.

    To me that’s just dumb.

Who cares about 5-7 years from now we need to be worried about the present, we have the mvp in his prime and cp3 nearing the end of his.

    Gotta go all in.

Now if harden and cp3 were 25 I might think differently but that’s not the case.

I think your underating butler big time.

He’s a lot better that Gordon.

He’s bigger better defensively and much more complete offensively plus they actually shoot the 3 ball around the same %.

I do the trade and don’t think twice.

Would it be cool to get butler for chriss and knight? Hell ya then the team would be loaded. I’m just be realistic and I don’t see how that gets it done for jimmy butler.

I think Eric forming the 3 headed monster with Paul and James gives him a lot of value to the rockets specifically.

Butler is more of a wing no ?

If we end up giving up Gordon what do we do about backup guard ? Hope knight or MCW plays well ? Buyout market ?

I'm not convinced but is a top 10 player . I think top 15-20 for sure.

I think the picks are worth giving up based off how good of a shot you are getting . With butler alone our chances are good ... but they aren't nearly as good when compared to having both butler and Gordon .

I just think that giving up Gordon plus those picks is too much harm on the backside for a mediocre increase in your chances . Even with butler , we are less talented than GS and maybe Boston and Toronto .... also we are thin at guard ( a position of injury concern) however , if you manage to keep Gordon we have as much talent as anyone and can keep that talent together for the rest of its prime ..... then those later picks are worth giving up .

    Edit.

Also one final reason I think it's not Gordon is that if it was..... it would be done deal . No way minny doesn't take that asap.

This is a classic mistake, you have to look at volume when comparing shooters. Its just as if not more important then percentage individually. Gordon made 3x the amount of 3's then Butler did last season per 36.

Rockets will not be able to afford EG because he already declined an extension this offseason. EG is superb when goes to the FT line which mean he is driving to the basket, last game he had 0 FTs and shot 19 times. Shooting 19 times in a game and no FT attempts to show for is playing me-me me ball. Jimmeh is Hakeem of PG. If Jimmeh is ours, Tibby is going to quit or retire because he loves this man so much. If we don't get him, Laker, or Lebron will recruit him.

I dont think rockets will re-sign Gordon, but they wont trade him this year. They want to keep him and also get Butler, thus giving up the 4 picks

I was staring to think that minutes wise that Gordon wouldn’t be such a big loss if it really came down to it. But if we don’t have to include him I actually really like this playoff rotation.

144 minutes available from 1-3 spots is exactly 36 min per game for Paul, Harden, Gordon and Butler. Tucker and Capela are likely eating up at least 60-64 of the remaining 96 minutes between the 4-5. Leaving roughly 32-36 minutes for Melo and Ennis.

Jimmeh is a 4x All-Star. Let me add a much better defender than Ariza. Tibby is a defensive coach, he knows something about Jimmeh.

too many Nostradamus types on here acting so sure that Butler wouldn’t re-sign here

we had better win a title while we have a player of Harden’s caliber because it could be years before we ever get another player on his level

the window for Harden, CP3, and a bunch of role players is most likely not extending past this year, and it looks like this team isn’t beating GS anyways...we had better get a 3rd star/real difference maker in here, and Butler will probably our best chance at doing that

if he does end up resigning with HOU, how much will the Rockets pay him? Hou already has 3 big contracts, someone is bound to leave next season
