    Since Taylor is trying to deal Butler himself, then maybe he won't have his lawyers read the fine print of protections on those 1st rounders.;)

    Right but Knight makes roughly 30 million over the next two seasons. That is where I got the 35 number from... those two years and Chriss’ this year.

    With Tilman already having proclaimed himself to be Les-like in his desire to never tank, it's hard to imagine a Morey-built team doing any worse than .500 or so, and that only with a major injury to one a key player. So not protecting those 1st-rounders might look better on paper than in reality. Realistically, they'll fall between 15-30 every year if Morey sticks around.

    In other words, not protecting them looks better to the T-Wolves than it does to Morey.

    Maybe this offer has been on the table for a while, October 31st being the date the trigger can be pulled.

    Remember how Thibs asked Riley for another draft pick when Riley thought he already had a deal. Could this be the reason? “Riley offered you what? OK, s***, four first rounders. Four!” “Hey, Pat, I need another first.” “F*** you!” Click.

    Although I still think Gordon would have to be involved. Maybe if Taj were included. Butler/Taj for Knight/Chriss/Gordon + four firsts, something like that. Gordon and Chriss at least keep Minnesota’s head above water as opposed to a complete tank job.

    As long as there isn't a serious lack of protection on the later picks, it would be a bad move.

    I'm a start Melo guy, so...

    So if Butler signs for at least 3 years.. i'd take this:
    Cp3, Harden, Jimmy, Melo, Clint
    With
    Gordon, Tucker, Ennis, Green, Nene?/Hartenstein?

    Over 4.. most likely late (at the very least the first 2) 1st rounders.

    The role Players will come with a Harden/Cp3/Butler/Clint core. That I have no doubt.

    I don't know if I should be excited or terrified. The 2023 and 2025 picks make me very nervous. CP3 will be retired by then and even Harden and Butler will be like 34 by 2023. Those could be very good picks.

    I'm tired of thinking that our last championship was 25 years ago. The dirty ****ing Mavs have won the championship more recently than we have. You never know what the future holds, and you never know what Daryl Morey will do, but I'd rather do EVERYTHING to win the title NOW than worry about how we can keep our franchise relevant 6 years from now. Anything can happen.

    Here’s a thought:

    Since we can only trade every other year pick, if we start falling off a cliff at that point we can just totally tank an even numbered year and get a top guy.
