    The premise is wrong.
    1. The election isn't over. Beto may win.
    2. He was always thought to be an underdog. He polled and continues to poll higher than anyone expected. That doesn't mean they ever thought he was a lock for the win.

It isn't Democrats or the national media that moved the goal posts. The author of the article moved the starting point of the goal posts. Even his own article shows that Beto was never in front in any of the polls.

The turnout for early voting in Texas has been astounding. Anecdotally, on Tuesday, the 2nd day of early voting, I stopped by the local Randall's in the area of SW Austin we live in that's a polling place to grab some groceries on the way home and couldn't find a place to park. Anywhere, except behind the grocery store, quite a walk to get to the entrance of the place. I changed my mind and went to an HEB in my area instead, one without a polling station.

The next day, at a different time of the day, I went by again. The parking lot was full to the brim, again, but I got lucky and caught someone pulling out of a space. I wanted to see what the wait was. It was an hour and a half. The line snaked around the inside of the store, people patiently waiting to exercise their right to vote. I've never seen an early voter turnout like this before, the closest comparison being in 2008, when Obama was running for his first term, and we've had our house in a well known Austin neighborhood in this part of town for 24 years, so it isn't like I just moved here. It's something that's very exciting to see. Americans eager to vote for the candidates of their choice.

These articles from both sides serve a purpose. they are setting up a narrative and trying to influence people. They disguise under pretense of talking about obvious. sometimes It works.

People should just go out and vote. the results are for a day after Nov 6th. Now its all about going out and voting irrespective of who we support. More participation better representation!

The bottom line is that Texan voters don't like the policies and messages that Beto is spewing. This isn't California.

About 40% of Texans do. Not the majority, but "Texan Voters" aren't of one mind.

You know, at least Beto talked about policies with the people of Texas. Something like 300 local town hall meetings where he talked and listened.
Ted is just the same 'ol God, Taxes ,immigrant scare tactics and bullshit attack ads. And it's the same ol' dark money supporting him.
Fresh air or stale bullshit people?

This whole thing doesn't make a lot of sense. Beto raises way more money. He draws way bigger crowds. He has way more signs. I see a lot more pople wearing Beto shirts. Most of my friends are voting for Beto Yet all the polls point to Cruz.

I presume you live in a city?

Go out to Gatesville or Refugio or La Grange and check again. Big cities in Texas are islands of blue in a red sea. There's blue in the south and west, too, but very small pockets.

The problem with polls is that they only canvas people with land lines.....who the **** still has a landline?

Oh yeah, the old fart lubys crowd.

the better the turnout, the better the chance is for Beto.

I wonder how many of those 40 percent were born in Texas or lived here for the past 10 years.

In a state where there are more Republicans? So far in Texas early voting, Republicans outnumber Democrats 53 to 43 percent,
