JH doesn't move around like Reddick. that's Reeko's point. the freedom of movement helps players like JJ bc they move without the ball constantly and you cannot be physical with them like before to slow them down. now players like them can just run free off screens and when they catch and shoot, its a free release. obviously its going to be a foul with contact as evident last night with jackson/jj at the end of the game
I agree. And I wish Harden would move around more. I personally do not like the current Rockets style of play. Players like Anderson, Melo need plays ran for them. The same as Adelman did for Budinger. I dont ever see any of that and I feel our offense is too predictable. What I've seen are Rockets 3 point shooters shooting if they happen to be open after iso play after iso play from Harden and Paul. Players like Anderson could have averaged at least 20 ppg. Rockets werent just outplayed by New Orleans, they were outcoached. But this is probably a convo for another thread.
Is that his first time? Blake Griffin getting 50 doesn't surprise me. He's been a "superstar" since his 2nd year in the league and plays for the Pistons.
Maybe he can get 60, he has short arm length but still gets it done. He also was left by the Kardashian, no curse.
Freedom of movement will hurt Ennis the most. He relies on off the ball physicality. Obviously he is having the hardest time with this rule. But everyone is playing under these rules and we are currently 25th, and i believe we are giving up a whopping 70 points in the paint. Boston is 1st, Toronto 5th and GS 6th. Boston is still keeping teams under 100, and Toronto is only giving up 38 points or so in the paint. I dont want "freedom of movement " to be the new narrative of why we look so horrible defensively. Maybe it's our new personnel and missing our defensive guru. Nothing is wrong or outdated about MDA's system. Our style works but we have to have capable, willing defenders or we will just be trading baskets and hoping for the best. The best teams will always be ranked toward the top end of the league defensively, regardless of the rules. I can see this freedom of movement issue being the reason why Melo fanatics insist that he start. They will yell that " no one can play anymore so why not just try to outscore them". Please let's kill this false narrative, and bring in a capable player(s) who can still defend without lame excuses.
i'm starting to think it might be related to the new nba betting legality. more interesting teams to wager on, more variance and upsets, etc
Players have to adjust to a certain style of play vs. the coach adjusting to the players he has on the team. And adjustments are hardly ever made. Excuses for losing are always "the team was tired" "werent hitting shots" etc. Its never the style of play. Never "I should have had someone who was on the bench in the game", etc. The coach never takes the blame. And Melo should start over MCW. Run some plays and set some picks specifically FOR HIM. That has not been done. If so, it hasnt been done often. Slow the game down if needed. Getting the win is what's most important. A possible loss with MCW starting over Melo is going to cause problems. And where is Nene?
It's magnifyied by our offense of 4 guys standing still while watching one player dribble the air out of the ball.
More than just bamboozling us, what it did was narrow the gap between us (Golden State & Houston), and everybody else.
Our offense is predictable and deadly (we ISO'd to 3-2 lead and a hamstring & 4 qtr away) because we have two GOAT ISO players. Recent rule changes fack that up completely now. JJ Reddick, Korver, Curry, etc.. those slash/cut and shoot players have all the advantages now. I'm telling you I can remember all the b****ing and moaning from TNT and every other talking head during WCF about our ISO game while they ignored the fact it was working!?! It was ugly but very effective. Would have worked if not for a hammy gone bad. I know the NBA league office wasn't thrilled that our ugly ISO ball was about to win the chip. They said hell naw, we can't have that again and changed the rules.
We are getting greater than 100 points a game, in the way MDA likes to score: overcome inefficiency with higher volume. The issue is, the defense is quitting on possessions early and giving up a lot of open looks.
Every marginally competent modern NBA offense scores over 100 pts per game. And with the 2 Hof guards on this team, we are automatically going to be marginally competent regardless of how shitty our offensive system is. When teams decide to spam threes with us, they tend to do it better than us also.
Our offense has been carried by shear talent alone from our Hof backcourt. I've never seen an offense constituency take so many horrible shots. This offense doesn't get many easy looks because on the regular, 80% of the offensive position is trying to get the switch and then having 4 gius stand and watch. It's a **** system .
Nba.com/stats You can learn a lot about what’s going on with that site. Quantity and efficiency on open looks, highly contested looks. That way you don’t have to come in here and post things that can easily be proven wrong.
