That play was set up by Watson flat out missing Coutee for a big gain though. On 3rd and everyone knows you are throwing, those things will happen.
nope...but that’s why he’s got to hit the open receiver when he gets a chance. Jags aren’t going to give the Texans too many opportunities.
At some point, the narrative has to become less about the terrible offensive line and more about the head coach and quarterbacks inability to dial up hot routes for blitzes that they know are coming on EVERY SINGLE THIRD DOWN. This is ridiculous. Whole offense deserves blame. Find the blitz. Throw a quick three yard out towards it. Let Coutee go to work and get more yards. Or, you know, just call a screen pass for once...
The ball had to be out almost immediately on that one, and that's going to be the case a lot on obvious passing downs. The Jags have too good a pass rush to have a lot of 3rd and long situations.
Texans lucked out on that 3rd down drop, Bortles is getting the ball out quickly, that's what Watson needs to learn to do more regularly.
I think this drive will determine that, the first drive started in FG range and they got that FG. This drive will need significantly more ball movement to lead to points. We'll see if they are up to the task.
