Some thing is up with Maldy tonight. Both "wild pitches" were uncharacteristic of him. He almost dropped Bregman's throw. PItch sequence that inning for a few batters was weird, way too timid and not creative.
Definitely not ideal but he actually did a really great job of not giving them the chance to blow it open. There weren't any random meatballs down the middle.
Sometimes just throwing the right in the middle to the bottom of the order does not hurt more than trying to make the K pitch. Those 3 walks was trying to get the batter to bite. His ego hurt the Astros that inning.
You to see where he fielded it. AB was nearly at the pitchers mound. That throw to 2nd is much more difficult than from behind the baseline. Throw home was best option.
