He said in the interview that it can't be fixed, and that he wants to win and that isn't the mentality the locker room has. Sounds like he wants out to me. And it sounds like Thibs is posturing without trying to cry.
He says the mentality isn’t a winning one but that it has nothing to do with his teammates. Doesn’t make any sense
I think its important to understand that KAT is only 22 years old. You guys are being a little too hard on him.
He likes his teammates, not about wanting to leave because of them but honesty (honesty or lack thereof from who? teammates? coaches? front office? all of the above?) and they aren't committed to winning. (Funny because he lists the Knicks, Clippers, Nets, capped out Heat)
Calm down. T-wolves 3rd string is like a team of Clutchfans. Here's what's real. The Rockets as currently constructed can beat the Warriors and win it all. No Jimmy drama needed.
Donovan Mitchell came into a great Utah organization and hes surrounded but tons of good talent. Sure he has different mind set than KAT but people grow at different rates.
Some players have that mentality (the chip on their shoulder) or the drive to win and do whatever it takes via training and honing ones craft (kobe, harden) then on the other spectrum u have beta btches like KD and KAT. Age means nothing, some have it and some dont. U can always improve your skill, but it's rare to change ones mindset to da game. Edit: KD is the prime example of aging. He improves his game, and as he got older he wanted to win, but he does it in a beta way(joining a superior team to win a ring).
I don't think it's the growth that is the issue with KAT, I think it is the mindset. KAT has all the talent in the world already.
M Gratz (the guy from the Reddit post/Pod who was in the building at the practice) and Zach Harper (Former Wolves beat reporter) agreed that Taylor is going to have to step in and step in soon because this is tanking the value of the organization and he has intentions to sell in the near future.
Chemistry in Wolves toxicity should b an all time high. Gonna be hard to do any future contract dealing with stars.
age means plenty. There comes a certain point yeah when a player won't be getting any better and they are who they are but not at only 22. AD has put up empty numbers for a few years and finally took a huge step this past year as far as learning how to win, get into the playoffs, and have some success. And it took him til 25 to do so KAT just finished his 3rd season and has plenty of room for growth and learning how to translate his game into wins more consistently
I used to be super bullish on getting Butler and I think I would ultimately give up Tucker and Gordon for him, but it’s a real real close call. I’m hesitant to lose a couple more key players from a team that was a hamstring away from a championship. Butler is not at the level of a Chris Paul and both Tucker and Gordon are better than anything we gave up for him. Ultimately I trust whatever Morey wants to do here.
What do you mean? Like KAT did badly in his first play offs I get it and this Butler thing is wild but lets not get ahead of ourselves and write him off. I repeat hes a 22 year old. People say that garbage about Harden, we know its not true. I just think its a little early to say oh well he's soft forever. I mean,I feel like he needs to be given more opportunities before we just say oh he's soft and hes never going to win.
One can always improve one skills at da game, that's a given fact. What one can't do is change how one views the game. It's hard to near impossible to change ones mindset from soy boy beta cuck into alpha dog. KAT will eventually desire to win a ring, but he's probably gonna do it in a beta way like KD joining a winning team. I'm not denying the man's talent but he just doesn't have that competitiveness drive to win.
Butler: When you guys talked over the phone after the season, (he knows how I felt) how soon after the season did you tell him? 4 days. How clear were you? Have you ever known me to hide anything? Look at what happened today at practice. I was completely honest about everything. What was his response? I love Thibs but Thibs is very smart. So, I think he sometimes hears what he wants to hear. "We got Thibs! Here's Thibs! Jimmy wants to play for Thibs! They're guys!" Yeah but you can't sit here & say it's always in my best interest because he works for the organization as well. I have to realize that. His job is to do what's best for the organization. Through the summer & you're communicating with him, you're also talking about contract stuff. They offered an extension. Reports are you wanted something, if they moved other pieces around & freed up more money, you would have gotten a re-negotiation that would have been a shorter term of the contract but more money. Is that accurate? It's accurate but it's not about money. What is it about? It's about saying "We want you. We need you here. We can't do this without you." That was the disconnect. You're saying one thing and you're saying it, saying it, saying it. I've learned enough times in life saying something is completely different than acting on it. Actions speak louder than words. When it came to that point, I let you know what the deal was when you traded for me. I told you the truth from day one. I will continue to do it and I did it. It's kinda like...I don't know to put it but it made me think maybe I'm not that important to your organization. That's how I took it. I could be wrong. Could be wrong. That's how I look at it. That's why you get the quotes from all over the internet from me today cause I felt a type of way, I held it, haven't said anything to anyone and it comes out. That's what it's all about. I just wanted to feel wanted. I wanted you to be like "Yo, I don't think we can do it without that guy." So what will this be like going forward? You'll get the best version of me no matter what, whoever I suit up for, I'll do my job. That being said, don't act like you care about me as a person. Don't do it. Just tell me "You go out there & play basketball." That's what I feel like is happening. "Go play. Be quiet. Don't say anything." I'm gonna play my role. What do you want going forward? Happiness. I want to win. There's one thing you'll never ever ever be able to say about me is I play this game for any other reason other than to win. I hate losing. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. If I don't win a championship, what's the point of making the playoffs? That's the way I think.
