At this point there really shouldn't be any climate change deniers.

They are either purposely obtuse or have a low IQ.

Global warming? Man cannot undo what God hath rendered. Besides, when Jesus returneth and stampeth out the Beast, the liberals shall be talking about how warm it is.....in Hell.

    Signed,
A lot of misguided fundamentalist types

There are very few climate change deniers. They amount to the same as those who believe in the flat earth theory.

Where the wide range of differences can be found is the impact of climate change and what we should be doing about it.

Indoctrination and taxing does nothing to address the concerns and this is a huge contention between people. Politicians are too busy concentrating on the differences to capitalize on the political gains. Those like Musk are actually trying to do something about it.

The current President of the United States is a denier of climate change.

The current Vice President of the United States does not believe in climate change either.

Credit to Pompeo for admitting that at a minimum human activity has caused temperature/weather irregularities.

So I cannot really agree with you that there are few climate change deniers in positions of power. Also I know a lot of people that are blue collar that do not believe that it is a human caused phenomenon.

Once I hear people like McConnell and Trump and Rubio say that it IS a human made problem and a priority, then we can start having meaningful dialogue. The closest we get is "I'm not a scientist". That doesn't even count people like Ted Cruz that do not believe it exists.

At this point the debate should be on how to off set it, and not on whether it exists....... but here we are arguing over it. Just like we argued over whether gay people should be able to marry and have benefits for decades....... and argued over whether black people should be able to live where they want........ and whether there should be a prayer in school... all political distractions.

What is this indoctrination you speak of? You say Musk is doing something about it by providing jobs in a new sector, but use scare tactics of unemployment when the transition is made away from coal and fossil fuels, pretending like their won't be a huge explosion of jobs in the sectors and lifestyle the US is transitioning to.

Yes, every human can live a life of pure, unbridled hedonism, but it always has it's consequences. Many don't think they are limiting themselves by not buying a truck that runs 15 mpg, not buying semi automatic guns to protect themselves from the government, throwing plastic wherever they see fit because "we're just living life", have as many kids as you want in order to achieve happiness and carry on your "legacy", etc.

These ideals are purely created by industries to keep their cash cows flowing. You'll notice smarter people don't buy into any of these notions and see the propaganda for what it is -a method of entrapment created out of a mediocre survival mechanism. Nothing is permanent in life, so when you live a lie ... the roof comes down pretty quickly.

Didn't they say years ago that it was already too late and we were doomed? Now we're doomed in 10 years? Sounds like things got better. Perhaps in 10 years we'll be doomed in a further 10 years.

And there are deniers in this very thread, I sincerely challenge them to debunk the 695-page report from scientists from 40 different countries.

When our leaders take the threat seriously, which I guess will happen eventually (hopefully when it's not too late) then we can finally have serious discussions on what can be done to curtail Climate Change.

It seems in America, we're still having a debate on whether it is happening or not, unfortunately.

Fact of the matter is the planet might already be doomed and the planet may have been doomed 10 years ago. This is a complicated issue and we can't just definitively say the planet is doomed X year.

What we can say definitively is that respected scientists around the world agree that this is a massive global issue. For anyone to say that this is some sort of conspiracy to hold back the rich and powerful is the pinnacle of greed and ignorance.

@Trader_Jorge the universe will punish you. You know that little voice in the back of your head that says "there's a tiny chance I may be wrong?" I suggest you listen to it more often.

Agreed and I'm one of those that feel we should accept the warming and the consequences instead of trying to stop or reverse it because that's laughable. Instead focus on engineering, mass migration, building new efficient cities, expanding and creating national and state parks, etc.., That approach helps with any type of global, national, or local environmental disasters not just man made global warming.

My problem is that they constantly exaggerate when it comes to their predictions for shock value. I don't doubt that the climate is changing, but the problem comes when people suggest economically crippling changes on a global scale that likely won't even make a dent in the climate changing.....especially when you factor in countries like China and India who wouldn't even consider adopting economically crippling changes.

Basically you have to look at the potential changes and figure out what would be more harmful, largely continuing the same path while trying to innovate and dealing with the changes as they come or crippling the economy now and hoping it'll matter. I'm on board for the former.

Of course you skip over the rest of my post. How about the deregulation of the EPA policies. How is that help the environment? Not only has he added to the copious amount of debt that the future generations have to deal with he also passes the buck when it comes to our environment. Trump doesn’t care about the future of this world as much as he cares about himself. The Moto he is uses is, in my opinion, doesnot Make American Great Again but Makes Trump Great Again. He only cares about what people think about him and his actions proves that. He can give a **** about the of this country and world. The sad thing about these trump nutriders they will defend him no matter what.

You had the exact same type deniers when scientists indicated CFCs were causing ozone depletion and the rapidly expanding ozone hole. CFCs were in everything and it would collapse the economy if we outlawed their use. Well science won the day and now ozone continues to increase while the hole is shrinking.

Trying to say that all these climate scientists are part of a vast conspiracy (it's always a conspiracy) is moon landing hoax level ignorance.

If you believe the scientists, it becomes a simple matter of act drastically now or the planet is quite fu**ed.

Based on the overall global sentiment, it appears the planet is toast. Sorry future humans.

I hope the powers that be make wise decisions.

Its complex in a way, but in another way its not. The science is simple. We need to find a way to pull carbon out of the atmosphere, and do it in bulk. Then we need to do it, and also make sure the public knows that not a free pass to pollute because a "get out of jail free" card is coming.

The US, Germany, Russian, and China have engineered some complex sh#$ before. Instead of finding our Wernher Von Braun we are allowing ignorant fools like Trump propagate the massive amount of airspace needed to push political capital that would supercharge a race towards engineering this type of feat.

Political capital is a much bigger part of the equation than we are giving credit to.

When it comes to predictions, I don't really believe the more over the top predictions because they don't have a great track record and many have admitted that they exaggerate for effect. The "act now or we're doomed" talk is pretty stale and IMO not credible. ti's clear that things will change, but I think some drastically underestimate the ability of humans to adapt to change.
