Correa appears to be consistently swinging late and that’s why so much his contact lately is opposite field. We can all see he’s afraid of swinging hard and you have to swing harder when you pull the ball. Much less taxing to either take obvious strikes or just swing weakly to the opposite field. It’s the path of least resistance to avoid an injury and he’s taking it.
I don't mind the switch of Kemp for White. I am curious about going with Marwin in LF over Kemp. It's a tradeoff of arm strength for range/awareness. I guess the assumption is that you're going to make a defensive move in later innings regardless. And it's probably thinking a few steps ahead, where you get the flexibility of moving Marwin wherever to pull someone else out of the game if you want.
This basically boils down to the delta between the downgrade defensively from Marwin to kemp in LF and correa to Marwin at SS with the delta from Tyler whites bat to Carlos correas. I’d side with the latter as being significantly larger but we know hinch is putting a huge premium on loyalty towards Carlos. Even if he wants to be loyal to Carlos regardless of production, I completely agree Tyler white is just too good a bat to not have in the lineup. Clevinger is vulnerable to big extra base hits and Tyler is much more apt to do that than kemp. Tyler should be in the lineup everyday as DH.
He's keeping Correa in for his defense. Could you imagine the reaction in the clubhouse if they benched Correa? Kemp for White could be a brilliant move for Hinch.
Touche But seriously, there is a reason why Al Michaels is still calling games. And Jim Nantz. And even Bob Costas. These are guys going on 30+ years without suitable replacements in the fold. Buck is a baby in comparison... but like was said before, he's now going on 25+ years and just signed an extension. He is awful on his US open coverage... only Nantz has been able to transcend football with golf, but not sure if Nantz has ever done MLB coverage. Is it 12:30 yet?
No, that's why we're talking about Joe Freaking Buck. My workday started at 6am burning brushpiles and now I'm done, I can't get more ready.
threw down 1100 on the astros to win at +122 . Am i crazy? I think thats crazy value for the the best road team in baseball.
Astros have homered in 11 consecutive postseason games -- one away from tying the record (BAL '83-'97)
All about the SS defense. Not that it matters, but Kemp is 2-4 with a 2B off Clevinger. Stros have hit him pretty well, which of course means he'll put up 6 zeros today. Tribe's big bats have had some success against Keuchel, so I'd expect some runs today, which of course means it will be a 4-2 game.
Someone else in the thread put it best......... calling Marwin Gonzales "Ole Hickory" after Andrew "The Indian Killer" Jackson. Crass as hell but fitting.
And home field advantage. And uncertainty abou CFM health wise. But yeah, that’s a very slight favorite.
