They lack the energy of the top broadcasters. Say what you want about Joe Buck... but he brings an energy to the game anytime any team scores. These guys are a snore fest.
They don’t unless Morton is injured. Morton looked good his last outing when he pitched 2-3 innings. Can he throw 6? I hope so. Also hope he never pitches against Cleveland this year.
Easy does it. Clevenger is no joke. I give him the advantage over meatball Keuchal. If we lose then it is a coin flip with uncle chuck on the road and then you end up in a winner take all. Yea JV will toe the rubber but so will Kluber or worse Corasco. Don’t ease up on the gas. Hopefully we see the road offense in Cleveland and DK dials it back to 2015.
He pitched a total of 6 innings... and the Stros did not have problems making good contact. The guy is an absolute choke artist come playoffs, those 6 innings against the Astros are the only quiet innings he has had since 2008. Otherwise you confirmed what I said.
Over a banged up Charlie who has thrown about 15 innings since start of September? Yep. I love Charlie. It’s not like we are big dogs in either game, but I’d sort of be surprised if they weren’t favored in 3 and 4.
I actually do think Clevenger is a joke. This is the guy who was quoted saying "the Astros aint nothing special," went on to post about a 6.5 ERA against us this season after said quote, and has a career postseason ERA around 7. I know there is all this superstition, cart ahead of the horse, and so on and so forth...but I say leave that to the players to worry about. As fans...the Indians fans have waaaaaayyyyy more to worry about than us.
That quote by clevinger could serve as real fuel tomorrow. Pretty dumb thing for him to say about a World Series Champion. The Astros comments in the media that day when everyone used the word “special” was hilarious. Could be a shootout as keuchel has been bad obviously and the Astros have hit clevinger well.
If Morton can't go, James, McHugh, Sipp, and McCullers are waiting in the wings. I have a hard time seeing Cleveland favored for Game 4.
I think Keuchel will have a solid game but he does own a 4.62 ERA in his last 37 innings pitched. 45 hits, 15 walks, 28 strike outs, 19 runs.
Keuchel is 4-2 with a 3.28 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in the postseason. He's also 4-1 with a 2.70 ERA in his career against the Indians. Relax.
I think Game 3 is when we will use McCullers, Harris and McHugh in relief to back up Keuchel. If we go to Game 4, Ryan and Roberto should be good to go again.
I’m thinking it may be a Josh James day, especially if we get into trouble relatively early. The contrast from Keuchel to James is comical.
I should have said bad against good competition. https://www.crawfishboxes.com/2018/...d-indians-houston-astros-division-series-2018 In 90 innings against teams over .500 Keuchel this year has a 4.78 ERA and 1.306 WHIP. Against below .500 teams Keuchel this year had a 2.49 ERA and 1.253 WHIP. No Astros starter had anything this close to a dropoff from bad to good teams. Against AL playoff teams this year, Keuchel pitched 55 innings and had a 5.22 ERA. I'd call that bad, wouldn't you? On the same link, you will see that Clevinger has a 4.92 ERA against teams over 500. He's also fattened up on bad teams and been bad against good ones. On balance, Cleveland pitching has fattened up against bad teams and not been that great against good ones. Notice that for guys like Verlander and Cole, there's hardly a dropoff against good teams and somehow Lance freaking McCullers is way BETTER against good teams than bad ones!
Maybe. But probably not. If it goes to a game 4 it’s likely some of those guys would have been used in game 3 and in James case I expect any appearance will see him goog multiple innings and being shut down for multiple days as a result.
