He's been very good for a while now, but he hasn't been getting used in high leverage situations.

Yeah I think you are right. This whole time I was constructing a 12 man pitching staff in mind (in the days leading up to Hinch saying 11)...then when I knew for sure it was 11, I was forgetting to allocate that extra roster spot to the bench. So I think there is a solid chance he makes it.

No because you don't burn Marisnick's glove or Kemp's bat to pinch-run in the 6th, 7th - whenever. We saw Hinch do this too often late in the regular season - he'd pinch run for White in the 7th with Marisnick and then be stuck with Gonzalez (or Kemp) in the OF in the 9th. He will not do that in the postseason.

Straw has literally one role: run very fast. He's weapon and I'll be shocked if he's not deployed. Again, they had to maneuver him into playoff eligibility since he was called up after Sept 1 and was not on the 40. That wasn't random.

Well in that case he should replace Rondon.

Josh arm from the BP is just something Houston, don't have.

Only surprise here is Harris making it. I agree with everything else. Rondon had no business on the playoff roster. He just couldn't be trusted.

I would have been surprised if James didn't make it..... He has just been better than Peacock and Rondon.... and his stuff is just too much better than Smith's.

I'm surprised they left Rondon off, but I'm glad they did. He's had too few strong outings this month.

I would have taken Smith over Harris, but Harris has been great recently.

No Peacock seems like a surprise at first glance given how important he was in the playoffs last year, but looking at his pitching numbers the second half of the season, I can't say I blame Hinch for leaving him off either. Ultimately, I agree with the guys Hinch chose. That group has certainly been the most reliable in recent weeks.

kind of surprised they're going with the rook but he has pitched well enough to continue to give him an opportunity. As much of the list is guys who have been pitching well to close the year.

I haven't seen anyone bring it like JJames since the Billy Wagner days... how could the skipper sleep at night without that arm on a postseason roster?

I trust Rondon over Harris. Actually I trust Rondon over any of the relief pitchers from last year's team (obviously not including the starting pitchers that played relief in the playoffs).

I don't trust Harris or Rondon but Hinch appears to have picked the guys who have been good recently. Harris has had some okay outings recently but he should be one of the last options in the pen at this point.

Rondon had a bad stretch but seemed to be over it towards the end of the regular season. And when he was good, he was really good. Ironically Hector didn't start his bad stretch until Robert joined the team. I wonder if that had something to do with it.

It's hard for me to remember any good outings Rondon has had recently. They have been few if any. He's been shaky with few clean innings. He was single-handedly responsible for several of the Astros blown wins toward the end of the year. Rondon had some good stretches throughout the year but he just didn't seem dependable in high leverage, close games with all the traffic that was on the bases in his outings as the year came to a close.
