Love how the entire bench rose in anticipation of Melo's first 3-point attempt off a beautiful CP3 dish. This is a squad.

Carter Williams played decent but man it’s still cringy every time that guy shoots. Gotta hold your breathe Brewer style

I could have sworn that someone on CF had been hyping him even before the draft, but a search I just did turned up nothing. Looks like no one talked about him specifically until we actually signed him. So, at this point you can still join the hype train and claim to be in out it since the beginning.

In the summer league threads, I forget who, but they hyped him up like crazy.

I didn't get to watch the game but why were we trailing for most of the game? Obviously it is preseason so I am not worried yet but just a little confused as to how Memphis put up 115? I assume we will be one of those teams that can up the defense when we need to but I just don't want them to get any bad habits in these kind of games. For those who watched the game, were we just coasting on defense? How did Ennis. MCW and Chriss's defense look? Chriss looked like he was setting some good picks which is encouraging.

Offensively, we were sloppy and all around pretty terrible in the first half, but started turning it on in the 2nd. We blew them out in the 3rd and let them score a bit in the 4th when the game was obviously over. Memphis scored 115 points because Tucker did not play and Harden played the most at only 30 minutes. Basically our bench got a lot of burn. GG, MCW, etc are not going to get 20+ minutes on a nightly basis.

Ennis did good IMO. He was active, disruptive, shot a three, had a coast to coast slam off a steal, etc. Basically he was out there doing Ariza/Moute things. MCW was really good for us. He passed up every open three he had though and took it to the basket instead. Consequently, he had 11 FT attempts, where he made 9. He also made 5-6 on close range attempts including a couple of layups I didn't think he would hit, so he did really good IMO.

Chriss was absolutely atrocious the first half, decent in the 2nd. He looked lost on D a lot and that's where having JBez would have really helped him out. Now he has to learn by example. His hands suck though; couldn't handle quite a few passes and ended up gifting away the ball a lot. Other than that, if he continues to improve on D and work on his hands with tennis balls like we did with Yao Ming, he could end up replacing Nene. At the very least, he is better than Black.

Clark and Cabloca were outstanding, easily exceeding any expectations we had for both of them.

The three big positive takeaways I had from this are the following:
1.) We are a big, long athletic group which is interesting and exciting. Most of those players are fringe guys, but they all look the part.
2.) I can already tell Ennis is going to be an awesome fit.
3.) I love that it is already clear to Melo that long two point shots are bad, and he seems to be good with it. He played exactly how I would want him too and the one time he deviated (When he faked a shot to draw a defender, moved in for a long 2), he immediately knew he ****ed up and apologized to the bench...DESPITE MAKING THE SHOT. When you apologize after making a bucket, I think it goes a long way to show you have the right mindset for this system.

It was great to see CP3 play so well. Hopefully his hamstring issue is behind him. I’m looking forward to Thursday to see how Chriss looks in the starting group with Capela out.

    100% correct
somehow llotr intrigues are more fun than some long term prospects that rarely ever get to fruition, I guess
