Wow, more ridiculous government intrusion into private business. The People's Republic of California is living up to their nickname.

Men need to shut up and step up. Do the right thing for a change.

Perhaps a bit overboard, but women should be better represented on these corporate boards.

Does this apply to private companies or just those that are publicly traded?

I do not think the government should dictate who any type of business hires / appoints / etc...

If a company has a policy that they do not want to have any executives that are black, should they be able to do so?

If a company has a policy that they only want Jews on the board, should they be able to do so?

If Whataburger decides that they do not want to hire any minorities to work in their restaurants, should they be able to?

A little overstepping of government - but the idea is solid...we need to get rid of this culture of abusing women.

I wouldn't call it solid but the idea is good. A better rule would have been to create business school scholarships for women (including existing internal management) so they can enter and compete in a male dominated field. And that's the real problem isn't it. Women are so much disrespected anymore they are disproportionate. Perhaps 50% general in population but not in the workforce especially business workforce. But it works both ways, take a look at nursing and education. Should we have rules for men in those fields?

Does headquartered mean physically headquartered, or incorporated there? As to the law, not sure if it reduces or increases discrimination. I'd have preferred they set the minimums lower.

My problem is the Board of Directors isnt gonna stop a middle manager from being a predator.

I don't know how much influence boards have on every day operations but all companies pretty much have harassment policies already

Thanks. I read and reread the article and didn’t see where this applied to a private company.

    yip, the Golden State.

kudos to Gov MoonBeam, [IMG] whose many accomplishments
have been the envy of many
    • turning Calif's huge deficit into a surplus
    • establishment of sanctuary cities
    • bar contractors, who had submitted bids for Trump's border wall, from doing business w the state
    • support the Paris Accord on climate change

other Calif Gov have also contributed mightily, including Ronald Reagan, who signed the Executive Order granting amnesty to millions of undocumented aliens, who pay taxes and commit no crime, most of them living in Cali

Yep, I don't trust women at ll. All they do is break your heart, dump you for ****ing their sister, and make up **** when you get appointed to the USSC.

So you are saying that we should have more women interns? Any bets on how that will turn out?

But the Board of Directors with women on it would fire his ass (after due process) and very loudly and very publicly let it be known the reasons why.

Not interns, professional women already in upper management (especially at these companies) should have scholarships to ivy league executive programs to elevate their profiles and knowledge. Give them the tools to compete instead of handing spots free breast cancer screenings. Oh you have a vagina, great here is a spot on the board! Honestly that's insulting to me though I'm not a women. I can imagine all driven professional, women don't want it handed to them. It's a weakened and compromising position when everyone at the table knows you don't "deserve" to be there. I'm saying create more women who do deserve to be there. That's real power.

Imposing any limits is wrong. That applies to minimums and maximums.
