Why is Mr. O'rourke afraid of his own last name? He might be the only politician that refuses to put his last name on campaign signs.

Beto is so cool. He should just put cool on his campaign signs.

Gotta give kudos to that person for actually having enough patience to find a Cruz sign to vandalize. Those things are like 4 leaf clovers.

There are Beto signs all over my Southwest Austin neighborhood (including two in my front yard). I haven't seen a single Cruz sign. What makes that interesting to me is that historically this neighborhood has been more Republican than much of the rest of the city. That, and folks out here vote. People simply don't like Ted Cruz. The political makeup of the area is changing as well. We used to feel a bit lonely out here, politically speaking. Not so much any longer.

Being a Conservative (whatever... accept your label and willing give up your free thinking) is one thing but being a troll too?!?!

So because of tariffs you want people to cut back spending. So if people have to budget and cut back spending which lowers overall economic demand how does that then help the economy?

lol, Jeb was trying to hide in plain site from the Bush name. I do not blame Beto for using it as opposed to his last name. Beto is a very different name.

My wife and I love to hit Black's BBQ in Lockhart, Texas from time to time. Haven't been there for a little while. I remember two years ago all the Hillary signs in the small towns we drove through on our way, which reminded me how much the Hill Country can differ from other areas of Texas (i.e., I didn't expect Democrats in the small towns).

Even though my opinion of Ted Cruz is really low, I would still be pleasantly STUNNED if Beto O'Rourke won. Yeah, I'll go vote, although I fear it'll just be another invitation for jury duty while watching Cruz win. We live in a state where even someone widely loathed like Cruz can run for office without breaking a sweat. He's sweating now---arch-scum Trump will stump for him, and we all know there's no love lost between those guys.

Most candidates who have a unique first name, a name that is part of a slogan, etc, use that instead of their last name. Especially if their last name is incredibly common or is already associated with someone else (for better or worse).

For example, Bush 43 leaned heavily on "W", particularly early in his political life while his father's shadow was its tallest.

Hillary used "Hillary" because her being a woman was unique and central to her campaign, plus she didn't want her campaign to just be "Bill's Wife".

Jeb was using "Jeb!" way, way before Bush 43's popularity went into the toilet.

In our neighborhood we have overwhelmingly BETO signs, but then you have the outliers who put up MULTIPLE Cruz signs because they feel the need to SHOUT their support - still vastly outnumbered, but one of the dolts in our hood has 3 Cruz signs - small penis syndrome to the front please !

I don't think Travis County is a concern in terms of support. It's Hays and Williamson and the like he needs to over-perform in.
