I absolutely love players like Ron Artest during his time in Houston. For as talented as Harden is, and of course I do cheer for him unconditionally, I'll always be more drawn to players like Artest, Beverly, etc. I love them dogs! If Westrbook played for us I would feel the same for him.

Not if we pull off this trade, he doesn't.

Your ridiculous assertion that EG would hit an absurd % if he only took 3 threes a game is just pointless pulled-out-of-your-a$$ babble unless you have stats showing that EG already hits an absurd % of his first few attempts, then tails off from that point. And even if that is the case (which I seriously doubt), who wants a 3-point specialist who gets worse as the game goes on?

C'mon, admit that Butler's nearly as good as EG. Nobody's saying EG is not great, we're just saying that he's demonstrably not THAT much better than Butler.

Capela keeping Green pinned in the paint with the thread of our extremely potent PnR largely nullifies the effectiveness of Green. We saw this in our series last year. Melo being our stretch 4 pulls either Green or Cousins way out. Cousins is not scaring anyone on D, especially coming off his injury and it remains to be seen how he meshes with the GSW playing style that involves a ton of perimeter screens, something he has never shown to be mobile or hardworking enough to throw around.

    1. Eric Gordon is a significantly better shooter than Jimmy Butler.
    2. The stats do back that up, as can be seen by Eric Gordon's shot chart and three point attempts.
    3. If you take easier threes, your percentages go up. Facts... That IS NOT Eric Gordon's role. He often takes deeper. tougher ones by DESIGN.

SPACING... Eric Gordon is such an elite shooter that he can take 3-5 threes from 3-5 feet back from three and still shoot excellent percentages.

Jimmy. Butler. Can. Not. Do. This.

It means that if you are taking alot more threes than the other guy, the guy who's taking more SHOULD be less efficient or at least shooting a lower percentage. As volume goes up, down goes efficiency, that's my simpleton answer haha, someone correct me if im wrong.
It would go up though? Thats also not how it works either? Also they dont really take the same type of shots? I mean, I'm not trying to be a dick and I'm not saying I know more ball but there are alot of things to consider and that massive difference in 3 pointers taken is important.

Uhhh no... keeping him pinned inside means we bomb away from deep. Dragging him out to the corner (which Melo is perfectly capable of) means Harden, CP3, and Butler all eviscerate GSW at the rim.

You know what? I'll grant you this last one. You're absolutely right, and it's a luxury to have that on a team based on spacing the floor.

But if we're in a playoff game against GS, I want Butler on the floor, not EG. Butler is a significantly(!) better defender and an aggressive beast. EG is a great shooter who has too many timid moments for my taste.

Id rather have him not in the paint. If you can show me stats saying which was more effective, I will be happy to listen.

dont forget, having JB and Melo would completely upgrade our inside game instead of always relying on capela at the rim.

It's one thing to have healthy fear; it's another to be so frightened, you become paralyzed to act.

It you believe GSW will break up due to your fear of tax, then we are almost guaranteed to win in the next three years, by applying maximum salary pressure.

It's like "defense"-spending escalation to knock out the Soviets. If GSW is breaking up due to overspending, go for the jugular to prevent all other players/teams from thinking they can catch up with us. Tilman, a man in the gambling business, will not be scared like you to escalate spending as a knock-out punch, like Reagan did.

There is also something to be said when most of your 3 pt attempts come from uncontested spot ups vs most of them coming heavily contested off the dribble.

People have said the same thing about Harden, that he's not a good 3pt shooter based off percentages, but he only takes the highest difficulty shots.

People also said CP3 wasn't a three point shooter before he got here...

In all fairness, EG's inside game isn't shabby, at least when it comes to drives into the paint.

Why do you think PJ Tucker is at the 5 in our best lineups against the Warriors?

    I can agree with that.

What gets tricky I guess is when you throw Tucker in that trade too. That's a rip your heart deal there. I'm glad Morey is in charge, sheesh.

Here is the thing, we can have it BOTH ways with Capela and Melo.

And when they don’t it’s rough. He’s a streaky guy but yeah when he’s on fire it’s amazing to watch. I think Butler can provide a lot more in other areas when his shot isn’t falling.

A Spurs fan friend of mine felt like keeping Gordon was a better fit over Butler for the same reasons you are highlighting. Either way, the Wolves don’t get to be greedy and get Tucker along with EGo it’s too much especially if we can magically get that Dieng contract moved for them.
