If Tucker IS involved, we would only be losing 3 pieces (both Ryno and LMM were huge negatives during the playoffs) and getting a player back that can do 75% (total ass pull number) of what those 3 can do combined. More importantly, if CP3 does go down for any sort of time during the playoffs, I much rather have JB out there creating points when Harden sits than any of those 3 players, ESPECIALLY during the 4th.
while i agree 100% with the general sentiment of this post, Jimmy Butler mileage absolutely is not massive because of his late arrival into the league, i dont have the stats right in this moment, but i vividly remember reading that Jimmy played less minutes than other players of his age or even older than him that no one is considering players with a lot of mileage
I can't discount Luc/Ryno just because they went into the playoffs injured. They contributed to our team last year and helped make the culture what it is, in and out of the locker-room. Regardless, Jimmy Butler can't do what Eric Gordon and PJ Tucker do. Excellent player, but I think you are vastly under rating our own guys and their exceptional, unique gifts. Gordon's ability to bulk shoot from three would be sorely, SORELY missed. And I hope you are ready to get punked by Draymond If PJ Tucker is off the floor.
It sort of does though, look at our second unit now with Hartenstein, Chriss, Ennis, Green, and Knight. That's not exactly formidable. And, as I stated above, it was a given that CP3 was going to re-sign upon agreeing to the trade. Had he left this offseason, that would NOT have been a good trade for us. We would have been left holding the proverbial bag, and would have probably also meant no Melo as well... I want to trade for Butler, but only if it means he intends to extend with us. I'd rather just keep Gordon and Tucker if not, and run it back as is...
Forgive me, I am incredibly hesitant for anyone that has logged minutes with Thibs, especially one that seems to break down as much as Jimmy. In 7 years, he has played more than 70 games TWICE.
Eric Gordon had only played in over 65 games once before coming here (his rookie season)...Jimmy Butler won’t be playing 37-39 mpg here and won’t have as much responsibility as he did in Chicago and with the Wolves...lesser load, lesser wear and tear
Also, for anyone that has watched Jimmy, he is definitely sticky with the ball. Jimmy/Carmelo - Getting rid of the quick ball movers in EG/Tucker/Ariza/Luc/Ryno...
doesnt GG have a no trade clause? 3 months ago – via Twitter BobbyMarks42 Bobby Marks: The one-year veteran exception for Gerald Green has a “no trade clause” because of the one-year bird restriction. Green can veto any trade.
They’re going to end up paying Klay and Green. Iggy and Livingston will not be around but they’re aging anyway
JB can definitely do what Ego can do. Ego might be a slightly better shooter, but Butler is a much better defender. The only thing Tucker can do that Butler cannot is to play PF/C for us. As long as we have Capela, Green will stay planted in the paint.
Interesting....I love Kemba's heart. I've heard through people that he's felt treated pretty badly by the organization though. And, his inner circle has pushed for a bigger market. The guy is what I wish Stevie could have maintained... Batum...yeah, I'm not a fan of much. His selection has always been dreadful.
GS best player plays the PF spot and they just added Boogie. Aren't those the positions our tean needs the most improvement ?
Jimmy Butler is a significantly inferior shooter to Eric Gordon. He is much better in other areas, but when it comes to shooting and range and quickness of release, it really isn't close. In all honesty, Jimmy Butler without the ball isn't scaring anyone, it's his perimeter defense that would be valued most here. Off the ball on offense, I'll take EG all day... We don't want Draymond Green to stay planted in the paint, that's the point. We need someone to disrupt his high post passes, and then someone to drag him to the three point line. Clint does a great job, but PJ Tucker is key.
