So, you're saying no matter how much an owner has, no one would pay the Rockets tab? Are you also now saying that we won't win in the next 3 years, if we make this trade? Sorry, you're not being rational....sounds like you're just scared.
In the world of the nba water is scarce. You better stock up because it’s hard to get and people are coming for it. The most water rich team is getting wetter and sucking the hydration from everyone else.
Until Sexton gets on an NBA floor, he is dripping with potential, which causes people to overrate a rookie’s trade value. He would have to become a really solid NBA player to match what Eric Gordon has accomplished (and Gordon has a very friendly contract himself). Then if the Rockets add in another first round pick or two, no way.
You're not following my point. My point is that your argument is solid as to why Tilman might not OK the trade. But, my point is also that IF the trade goes down, then the point of scared fans worried about Tilman's finances becomes just fan worries, as Tilman would surely have decided he's all-in, and will exercise his Bird Rights on Bulter to the fullest.
Can we not even entertain the Cleveland talks, no one with the sane mind would think they would offer Sexton.
Adding Butler would be huge. remember that GS lost West, Zaza, and McGee those players contributed to an extent. Cousins may or may not be the same. Rockets need to strike now!!
I'm not saying that, my sole concern was about how ridiculously expensive it would be to be paying 130+ million dollars to only 4 players.
Player salary expenses don't exist in a vacuum, though. Owners of business are willing to spend ridiculous sums as long as they're making a giant profit. That's why teams like the Yankees grab up most of the best the free agents; they know they'll still make a profit year after year. Sure, no owner wants to LOSE money. But that's not the whole picture here.
I watched every game, many post game interviews, and social media coverage. Great player for us last year, but the guy is the Russell Westbrook of the Rockets when it comes to attitude.
Apology accepted. What I like about Gordon is that he creates but is also a great catch-and-shoot player. So hypothetically speaking, if Butler comes and Gordon is still here, I don't see them playing together being an issue. For the second unit, I also feel we will need Gordons ability to hit the three from anywhere and ability to penetrate in order to get other teammates open looks. I love PJ just as must as anyone else, but in regards to which to trade, I'm also factoring in his age and the fact that his value is as high as its ever going to get. There might not ever be another oppotunity to trade a PJ Tucker for a star player such a Jimmy Butler, and Gordon (is STILL improving) can still be used in a trade to upgrade the team later on down the road, if needed.
Tilman says he is going to pay $150 million or 200 million for a chance to win the championships. We have no problem to pay $130 million for 4 players. The rest of the 9 rosters would be $25 million with MLE player. It is only 88.8 million repeater tax each year.
I'd include PJ in a Butler trade only because we still have the taxpayer MLE to work with and I think a foursome of CP3, Harden, Butler, and Capela would be a big enough draw to free agents that want to be on a contender. GS doesn't sweat losing role players because everyone keeps flocking to them. I love Tucker, but ultimately I think he's replaceable either through free agency or trade in the future. Butler isn't a replaceable player. I have a huge respect for Butler's game, I think he improves our chances to win a championship both in the present and going forward via recruitment. He's an elite two way player. People are underrating him because EGo and Tucker are high level role players and including them both in a trade looks a lot more like a lateral move than EGo and fillers. But that's the wrong way to look at it. If Butler were already on the team, no one would be clamoring to trade him for EGo and Tucker. We'd be chasing role players through other avenues. Getting superstars is the hard part.
1. I don't care what cyberx or anybody says. We ain't trading PJ. 2. I don't believe we want Butler. I think we'll take him at the right price with the idea to trade him to another team for the right package of assets. 3. I can see us doing a Butler Deing deal for Gordon Nene Knight and a first rounder and possibly a future second rounder with that first rounder bring in 21, 22, 23, or 24. And I could sees two picks gong out to shuffle a player off to Sacramento. But if so I think those two picks are 2020, and 2022 or possibly even 2021, and 2023. But not 2019.....if we are still dealing with Brandon Knight's or Deing's contract. 4. Our real targets are Winslow and Oubre to play the 3. And having them on restricted free agent deals makes a lot more sense than Butler walking for nothing or paying him $190 million. Especially since both Harden and Paul are on those high super max deals already.
You persist in trying to badmouth PJ? By comparing him to Russell Westbrook? What does that even mean?
A rumor is going on that Sexton has been offered by the Cavs to the Wolves. If this is true, it can complicate things for the Rockets.
