No it wouldnt. If its just Gordon im cool with a 1 year maybe even pj. But i would be more hesitant.
Look bro you have to roll the dice. Butler is a top 20 player. U ask as if its a one year rental we would be screwed. That simply isnt true. Summer next year is a deep free agent class.
If you dont win the ship. N u let melo butler n other loose thats alot of cap space. At the end of the day you have a core of harden cp3 capella. That will all ways be competitive with role players on the margins. I shoot the shot n not look back

With butler salary is a non issue THIS SEASON but if we want to keep him next year it will be a major problem ... we would have to hope he would take like a 1 and 1 .

I dunno about trading for him y'all . Even if it's just giving up Gordon and filler , Gordon is a key role player for us .... him and capela are 3a and 3b IMO .

So I would hope that before pulling the trigger on a move like this that Morey consults with harden and Paul . We are a great team regardless of this move . If he has the team leader's blessing then go ahead and do a trade.

Thats undsr the impression he doesnt ask for a no trade clause. N if im dealing with morey n im a star im asking for that since i know he aint shy about trading players. Especially when u wouldnt be the man so if a trade did go down u probably would be the tradee

I had the taco salad with a water. Wife had the burrito, daughter had the bean burrito. The biggest hit was the free Taco Casa hat, which was indeed great.

I agree, but hustle guys are much easier to acquire than stars. Get the star, THEN get the hustler.

As for PJ being a good friend of Harden's, they can still be good friends. They just won't be working together anymore. Harden isn't being paid bajillions of dollars so we can make sure ALL of his best friends are on the team.

I don’t recall anyone viewing Tucker as indespensable when 1st acquired...if there were, it must have been very few

I recall him getting consistently trashed in game threads because of his offense or lack thereof for the 1st couple of months of last season and many claiming that his defense was overrated...CF was hating on this dude hard

I trust Morey to be able to find another role player that would be able to mitigate his loss

I remember a lot of r****ds shouting from the rooftops.

They were shown to be buffoons in the end... No one knows for sure, but I believe that it is VERY possible that PJ Tucker has a highly specific skill set that enables you to beat the Warriors. I don't think we repeat without him, and I can't think of 5 guys in the entire NBA that we can replace him with.

He would not be eligible for a "no trade clause." So moot point.

OG, Delon and Siakam are all positive assets that are tradable. The tougher part would be matching salary but pretty sure they could find a way to get it done.

Sounds like you are scared, that you don't think we can win. If we win, then *everything* was worth it. If we don't, then we have Bird RIghts to a legit Top 15 talent in his prime to run it back with Harden, CP3 and Capela (and likely PJ, too).

I don't see the problem. Surely, if Tilman OKs a trade, then that means he's accepted his duty to outbid everyone with his Bird Rights.

It's OK for scared fans like you to say that the deal won't go down, because Tilman is scared of the contract, too. That's fine. Projecting you worries onto a rabid Rockets fan, Houstonian Billionaire is a fine exercise in Internet debates. That could very well be the reason no trade happens. *BUT* if the trade happens, then I contend your worries were just that,,,yours. The trade then means Tilman isn't scared of the contract like you are.

I'm sure Morey and Tilman have discussed it:

Morey: "We shouldn't do this just for one year (as Cousins might propel GSW to unbeatable status for the 1 yr he's there), so let's ask ourselves, are we 'all-in' for the entirety of Harden's prime to bring to Houston the best talent we can, at all cost."

Tilman: "Sounds good, but let me first go to the bars tonight and poll all the scared fans out there, who don't think I can afford this."

Harden/CP3: "Don't do this unless we can afford it!"

Tilman: "Ok, ok, I get it. Hey, have you two seen the new line of Bugatti's that came in? You think Jimmy wants to buy one?"

    Morey/Harden/CP3: nervous laughter

Tilman: "I kid. I kid. Let's do this. Let's break the bank FOR HOUSTON!!!!" [To himself: thank God Daryl told me to let Ariza and Luc walk to save up for another day.]
Don't worry so much Bobbythegreat. If the trade goes down, then that means Tilman has prepared himself to outbid anyone.

I'd rather the Rockets trade PJ than EGO.. But that's just me. Butler is an even better defender than PJ, and just Butler and EGO alone (without Paul and Harden) is a dangerous combination. Imagine Paul, Gordon and Butler in your backcourt. Not to mention Harden (MVP of the league).

If Paul goes down I feel a lot better that Gordon is (hopefully) there. People keep saying what PJ can do for us defensively, and need to be reminded that the Rockets still need more points to win. The ultimate goal should be to put together a team no one can stop (offensively). The Rockets would have great defenders in Paul, Butler, Capela and Ennis (who I also believe can replace some of PJ's energy and toughness). You are losing a lot offensively if you trade Gordon (who is also a good defender).

The Rockets have the defense first mentality. They wont lose that if or when PJ is traded. They know what needs to be done. At the end of the day, they are going to have to outscore their opponents. No one is replacing Gordon's 3 point shots from 3 feet behind the arc, or handles and ability to penetrate.

If this were a pick-up game and it was down to Gordon and PJ, who would you choose?

I dont believe that, no way why would Cleveland do that when YOU KNOW, Butler is gonna leave. He isnt gonna stay in Cleveland.

Cavs arent going anywhere. Why do this trade when there is no chance Butler stays after this season?

Edit: didnt see the post above.

Haha! This is great, HP. Here's my version of the conversation:

Morey: "We shouldn't do this just for one year (as Cousins might propel GSW to unbeatable status for the 1 yr he's there), so let's ask ourselves, are we 'all-in' for the entirety of Harden's prime to bring to Houston the best talent we can, at all cost."

Tilman: "Ok, ok, I get it. Hey, have you two seen the new line of Bugatti's that came in? You think Jimmy wants to buy one?"

    Morey/Harden/CP3: nervous laughter

Tilman: "I kid. Do what you gotta do, Daryl. Let's get a chip."

    Morey/Harden/CP3: "YAY!"

Tilman, thinking to himself: "Man, I really need a drink. Where's the nearest bar? And for f%$'s sake, I hope I don't run into any ClutchFans tonight."
