Yep nothing to be concerned about he doesn’t know anything. Thus why he said your guess is as good as mine
I mean, if the Rockets could get Butler they would proceed on a 2 year window. They would give him the max. But if they don't win the title after Butler's second year here they could flip him to a team for assets. There are plenty of teams (especially bad ones) that would jump at the chance. Improve your asset value and kick the can down the road. But for NOW, put together the best team you can.....because if you aren't what are you doing?
Salary isn’t an issue. We would have to pay to keep Gordon, and we are over the cap so we can’t go out and grab anyone big off the market. That means we would overpay to keep Gordon, or we overpay to keep Butler. Also the salary cap keeps rising, even ever so slightly makes a dent into the luxury tax.
That might be true, but the risk of Jimmy walking to the 76ers or Lakers in the offseason is very real. I tend to trust logic over reports. Reports are often released with a purpose. They may contain bits of truth, but they are also an attempt to skew the truth some. I think the most reliable intel is that Butler wants to win. His "real" list probably includes the Lakers, 76ers, Houston, Toronto, Washington and some teams that have space for 2 max contracts. Miami may also be on that list, but without a guarantee to resign. For various reasons, it looks like its come down to Miami and Houston...teams without cap space, have limited assets and are willing to take the risk Butler walks.
I think I read jb’s starting salary after a supposed max would be $32m and change in the first year as well.
Not a chance with Melo in there. Put Tucker in there instead and we there is a chance. Put Tucker and Gordon in there and we have a good chance.
Well, there is always going to be risk of course. Just some organizations have more confidence in their "culture" that if they get a player into their system and can "recruit him for a full year" that can go along way. That home court advantage is real. And we know Morey feels this way. And to quote Sam Presti "scared money, don't make none."
GS is going to pay Green and Klay. JB just turned 29. If the Rockets win a title, we should look at giving him the 5 year deal if we get him
So no one else is talking about this? This is basically saying that we've been getting gassed up these passed couple of days.
LOL whichever, either way, I think we arent as far as long as we think. But just to make sure @Codman @cyberx
No it isn't. If you listen to the whole thing he says Minn was trying to do that between us and Miami, but since they recorded that Miami has given their "final offer" and now we are the only ones actively negotiating. This pod was recorded Friday morning, so all the stuff that came out last night isn't covered here. Also, they say that the way the deal gets done quickly is if T Wolves owner steps in and makes a trade (which is what cyber and @megastahr updated us as happening late Thursday night).
When they say finding creative ways to land Butler, me thinks also without having to give up either EG or PJ
