People are forgetting that Kavanaugh isn't even on trial. It isn't about that, it's about whether he is a competent choice for the highest court in this nation. Are you seriously thinking that he is a great choice for the freaking Supreme Court? Get the hell out of here.
Hell I don’t know but I sure hope we are getting past this ****... it’s exhausting everyone is a murderer or a sex offender or something and it’s both sides just throwing **** at the wall and hoping **** sticks. Maybe all the **** we hear about all these politicians is true and they are all screwed up... but I just hope we one day see a time where we don’t have to worry about a judge being a rapist. But I suppose that’s just wishful thinking.
I did. That is what got my vote. But I also added the qualifier that I wanted to hear all the testimony from the other people who might have been witnesses.
Not really, based on the crap I walked in on half the time during Third and Fourth Form and an adult lifetime of being professionally undermined by petty, broken, socially entrenched white women on the basis of suspiciously timed social mischaracterizations often surreptitiously delivered in written form to conservative male authority figures both sides seem plausible.
He is being called a near rapist and involuntary attempted manslaughterer thirty-plus years after the fact at the highest and most public point of his career. He has also endured an academic and professional trajectory that might actually require a level of focus and self-discipline that doesn't always leave room for partying at a time in their lives when others feel entitled or even obligated to screw around.
I get it and I don't know how I would act considering everything, but I don't think he presented himself very well and I think he wasn't being up front about his past. To me he was overcompensating with the Boy Scout facade. Also, I don't think Ford is being completely forthcoming either and I think it's painfully obvious that she is being used politically. I was left with a million questions after she gave her testimony and there are inconsistencies. That said I really don't care that much about what happened other than for just general curiosity sake at this point. I was hoping for an investigation and I'm glad we are getting one. Hopefully it yields some more information. My general feeling is that he isn't a sexual predator but he probably did get a little wild when he was younger. I don't think he is the drunk that some are trying to portray him as simply because he was far too active and successful in school to be blasted as often as some are implying. I'm fine if he gets confirmed but I think a different candidate is probably the best route to go at this point.
The mere attack on Democrats shows that Kavanaugh is unfit to be a judge as clearly is highly biased and will view all cases with a lens of hate and detest for Dems. Considering all of this, he should be disbarred and not allowed to practice.
Have the FBI subject Ford, Kavanaugh and Judge to serious lie detector tests, under the penalty of perjury? This is not 100% reliable but this might be enough to get to the bare bones of the truth. Whatever that is.
He also explicitly lied about slut shamming an innocent high school girl by writing "Renate alumnius" on his yearbook stating that "alumnius" in this context means "being friends" with her. In fact it was so disgusting that the girl that was reffering to in the slut shamming in present innitiwlly singed the letter of "women supporting Kavanaugh" but saw the yearbook signature and retracted her support andsaid she felt humiliated. Also, he lied about referring to "the devil's triangle" as a drinking game when it obviously was a reference to a 3 way sex act of two men and one woman. Also, his closest friends say he was a raging alcoholic and was aggressive when drunk during high school and college. I'm sure he did well academicly but he was pampered at a wealthy Catholic prep school also. His undergrad was American History, not engineering or some other intensive program so I'm sure he had plenty of time to party.
Its called a polygraph, not a lie detector test, for a good reason. There is no green or red button that magically lights up. Its highly subjective and a proper polygraph requires a very experienced operator and it can take hours if done properly. Polygraphs are a good tool for matters like background checks. They are highly unreliable if you're trying to get a specific piece of information, such as asking a person if they were sexually assaulted by a specific person or if they sexually assaulted a specific person. An experienced biased operator has the ability to potentially provoke whatever response he wants to show up. Any subject who wants to taint the results can do so pretty easily. This is why I find Ford's poly completely irrelevant. I dont doubt she thinks Kavanaugh attempted to rape her. Much like a polygraph, there is a reason why we dont condone torture. Its not because its inhumane. Its because you can eventually torture a person to the point where they will tell you anything you want them to. Its just simply ineffective and unreliable.
i voted to hear the testimony before making an opinion. I heard about 75% of the hearings and while I found Dr. Ford credible and Kavanaugh's objections to be overly forced and melodramatic there is enough doubt to exonerate Kavanaugh in my mind regarding this particular incident. If we look objectively Ford's specific account of the incident and Kavanaugh's specific denial essentially cancel each other out and from there I have to look at the evidence. The evidence against Kavanaugh is very poorly corroborated and Ford's friend Leland Keyser undercuts one of the primary pillars of the case against Kavanaugh. Regarding things like Kavanaugh's calendar I find those poor evidence for or against him. inferring from the calendar that there are entries that indicate he might've been drinking and partying during the time period that this incident is happened is circumstantial at best and speculative. Laying any bias I might have aside the evidence to me falls not only well below a criminal standard or one that in it's own would disqualify him. That doesn't mean that I would support him becoming a USSC Justice. There are many reasons I'm against him and if we're talking about temperament I can agree that Kavanaugh might not be a sex offender but he himself has admitted that he is far from the boyscout image that he and his supporters presented initially.
The “Renate Alumni” boast is pretty big IMO. Other folks coming forward saying his “mild drinking” was a total lie as well. This will come forward during the investigation. How many people are brazen to consider themselves an alumni of a particular woman? The environment he was in reminds me of the Baylor rape stuff going on a few years back. The precedent here is big and will send a huge message to 19-20 year olds of today that there are repercussions to...ya know, sexually assaulting women.
They are relevant to his credibility. He has explicitly lied multiple times. Another example is referring to the "devil's triangle" as a drinking game.
Pretty much. Just pull the nomination and ram a conservative woman in there. Trump will look like a hero and get to boast about how modern he is. This isn’t hard.
Except that I think they want to send a message to the #Metoo movement that they are still running things and they aren't going to keep letting women speak out against the sexual harassment and abuse culture with which these men came to power. So they will push through this guy through.
