I don't know why Dem Senators would be expected to do anything at all to help a nomination through at all, less alone quickly, given the GOP's position on Merrick Garland.

That said, at this point, Dems should all vote against him regardless of the outcome of a limited FBI investigation. Their duty is to the country and the integrity of an above-the-fray court. He demonstrated yesterday that he believes Dems are evil for even wanting this looked at, and that puts any judgements he makes into question. A court with BK on it is not above-the-fray and will never be considered non-partisan - and that's of his own doing from his tantrums. The #1 factor in a Supreme Court nominee was supposed to be integrity and lack of bias.

You only have 9 people on the Supreme Court and really only nominate one every 3-4 years on average. It shouldn't be hard to find 1 person out of 300,000,000 Americans that doesn't have huge question marks in their past and their record. Gorsuch was one such example. The GOP doesn't have to get a single Dem on board to push a nominee through - they just need to convince all the members of their own party, so blaming Dems for delay only is relevant to the point that they convinced a handful of Republicans that there was something worth being looked at more closely.

I would only hope that they will thouroughly investigate Fords background as well and disclose the findings.

Why does this surprise you? Why do you think an artificial time limit is good? If they discover something on Day 6 worth pursuing, should they just say "well, we're done!" ? Is that the right way to evaluate someone for a lifetime appointment when there is literally ZERO harm in waiting another week or 2 or even 12? They have the majority through the end of December - the only reason this is being pushed through now is for political reasons. So even if the Dems were delaying only for political reasons, I'm not sure what the issue is.

It is being pushed so they can vote it up or down and move on. If they don't have the votes they still have time to push through Barrett before the lame duck session ends without worrying about the midterms. However, they need to get the ball rolling by October 15th or so to be safe because it generally takes about 60 days to confirm someone. Democrats know this so... DELAY, DELAY, DELAY. McConnell will call a vote whether he as the votes or not.

"I thought her testimony was very compelling and she looks like a very fine woman to me,” Trump said, adding that he was also dazzled by Kavanaugh’s testimony.

I wonder if Trump would like to move on Ford ... like a b****.

    I'm just saying.

All in all, a good 24 hour fund raising cycle for both parties.

Mitch may be a turtle-face and all, but he ain't stupid. He wants some cover and say "see, even an additional FBI didn't reveal anything earth shattering."

Who said I was surprised? Nothing the left does surprises me anymore. By any means necessary right?

I don't. That's why SENATOR FEINSTEIN should have suggested a investigation to Ford back in JULY when she received it. It would have been done by now and instead of this circus we have now could have been done quietly and professionally.

Why aren't you FURIOUS with Feinstein if your main concern is having a timely investigation? I haven't seen you going off on her?

Oh I'm sure Democrats will find a way to "find something" on day 6 or any other day to continue this circus. We've already seen this in action.

Your party BLEW the only way a proper investigation could take place. They leaked this ****...not republicans.

Of course you don't mind the delay. Political power by any means necessary right?

The Democrats can't do anything if Flake and Murkowski are convinced. It's game over and McConnell has the votes.

Judge Kavanaugh will be sleeping like a baby, now that the FBI is on the job to clear his good name. The Clintons must be worried, that they will be spending the rest of their golden years in prison.

Except this assumes there might actually be something wrong with BK.

If the delay is not legitimate (ie, purely political) then they don't need a backup candidate - BK will be confirmed eventually and it can be done in December if needed.

The only reason to need backup candidate and move by Oct 15 is if there might actually be a problem here. And if that's the case, it's not a delay - it's a a legitimate concern that should be investigated.

The GOP can't have it both ways. If BK is truly innocent and there's nothing to worry about, then a delay is no big deal.
