It's "ridiculous" that this is something that should be rushed.

Sorry, Tobin, but it looks like he's enjoying the show way too much! or is he? More when we come back after the break.

They sat on it since July, then delayed the hearings and now another week and do you think the Dems will be happy with another week? You know damn well they won’t, there WILL be other stall tactics.

The discussion wasn't about Sexual Assault. It was about Yearbook comments. Why are you butting into an conversation I'm having with another and misrepresenting it?

What exactly are you referring to when you say "it"? And how do you know "it" happened? Were you there?

I'm not defending "lying". I'm saying that you can't automatically dismiss people as candidates for lying because we would thereafter have zero candidates.

You're welcome to your opinion. I recognize the man was in a no win situation and emotionally defending himself is EXACTLY what I would have done in his shoes. As far as recognizing his job isn't political? Get real. EVERYTHING is political in Washington and his "hissy fit" would probably be labeled righteous indignation if it was you or someone you love being accused of such awful crimes.

Why do republicans always look for activist USSC justices that don't respect judicial precedence?

Take it up with the Republicans, they have the majority and could have had him approved today.

btw, the FBI background check cannot be limited only to the Ford accusations but also needs to look into kavanaugh's own statements made under oath. Perjury/lying under oath to Congress should be an automatic disqualifier.

The turtle could do the match... Flake, Murkowski, Collins, and Manchin (and Donnely, who already said he would vote no) means kavanaugh would not have been confirmed.

Let me ask a serious question. Suppose they take another week and do an investigation and Kavanaugh comes out clean as a whistle and every Dem Senator still votes against him would any of you question this?

At this point, removing the optics of what the American people do or do not think........ this is all about appeasing 2-3 Republican senators. They need to feel that they have done enough morally to support the confirmation of Kavanaugh. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out. I would not be surprised if in a week 2 of the 3 senators at issue are satisfied and vote for confirmation. However, I think if anything new comes out, then the Republicans may have to abandon ship and nominate someone else. Trump can play this off as a massive democratic conspiracy.

I cannot imagine the tweets we will get from Trump if the FBI says it will take over a week OR returns bad news for Trump.

As a side note, I agree with those saying that this will take over a week......... if the FBI says they are not done with their investigation after 5-6 days, can the GOP really hold a vote? What would be the political fall out of that?

A lot of balls in play.

Regardless of the sexual assualt allegations, he's lied multiples times during this process. I don't think that's acceptable for someone who's going to receive a lifetime appointment to the highest court in the country. So no, I wouldn't have any problem with the Dems unanimously voting against his appointment in the situation you've laid out.

No, he already has been caught lying or being evasive on a number of issues. The testimony of Ford and Kavanaugh are already known. This is going to be a very controversial vote regardless of the FBI investigation.

It all hinges on about 4-5 senators, all the Republicans have to do is satisfy them.

In fairness to the Republicans, it is hard to get things done when you have a narrow majority.

Yes. That has to be questioned. If and only if BK had kept his cool during testimony. He came off as a loose cannon ... someone who might hold a vindictive grudge. Therefore, to expect dems to vote yes or abstain is unreasonable.
