Trump would look brilliant if he pulled the nomination and put forth #2 on the list.

Poltically, that would be the dumbest thing possible. Much of his base would abandon him if he backed down.

Sure, but how many people do you know that lie about it?

Does someone that lies about their past, and in such an obvious manner, have the ethics and morality to be a Supreme Court Justice for the next 30 years?

Are we to believe that he lies often about small things...... but we should believe that he is believable and is credible when testifying about serious things that he has a vested interest in?

What I find disappointing is that he Kavanaugh hasn't been very bright handling any of this. He is a lawyer, he knows it is very hard to prove something that happened over three decades ago...... it all comes down to credibility, and he has systemically eroded his credibility by lying about what one would think are some points.

I disagree with him politically on about 66% of his positions. However, I thought he was bright and somewhat ethical........ and he isn't and that is what is disappointing. He is making simple tactical errors.

If he fired him Trump style his base wouldn't budge.

Trump: honestly I didn't like all the whining and crying we need a stronger person for the position.

You with a group of friends slut shamed a girl for your whole class to see? Really?

There is a normal range of "boys will be boys" behavior that doesn't represent psychopathic tendencies. Viciously shaming and singling out a girl who did no harm to you is outside that realm.

And at that time they weren't 13 year olds. They were legal adults at the age of 18 .

It woudl be a pretty good political jiujitsu move to sacrifice Kavanaugh for Barratt. But,in zero-sum game ultra short term VERY STABLE GENIUS land, anything past the next tweet requires too much foresight.

I don't think so. Trump's base would run through a wall for him. I am serious.

I dunno. Its never come up. That's just it. We normally don't hold high school crap against people 30+ years later.

Everyone lies. It depends on what the lie is and IF it really is a lie. Also, I don't agree with your characterization that he "lied" about this.

It depends on what the "lie" is, because as I posted above everyone lies.

I think just the opposite. I believe he has been LIED ABOUT constantly from the get go and his reaction has been to defend his honor as anyone would do.

You're entitled to your opinion. I like a person who fights back. It shows he has the backbone to stand up for himself and says to me he will do so for future unpopular decisions while on the bench.

The Supreme Court was one of the most important reasons people voted for Trump after they witnessed the Obama years. Backing down at the moment of truth would be disastrous for Republicans at large and Trump (albeit to a lesser extent).

Yes. He could even have it be a network special on Fox.

He calls Kavanaugh into his office, has Sanders close the door and walk away. Trump in his big chair can stare down Kavanaugh and play parts of his testimony he didn't like on a television screen and criticize Kavanaugh.

Then Kavanaugh can say "Mr. President I appreciate all the support." and Trump can shoot back: "I am not happy Brett. I have to tell you I think we need better."

Kavanaugh can then say "I understand Mr. President."

And Trump can say: "Your fired!"

Trump can then have the door open with dramatic music and have Sarah Sanders walk in......

"For the whole class to see". Really. Did he invite the whole class over to see his yearbook? Did he sell tickets too? Do tell how he managed to do this.

I wasn't aware of your professional expertise on what is "normal" or "psychopathic". Please list your credentials.

Were they? Did you card them right after they wrote the quotes?

I said shitty things as a high school and college boy for sure, and for one, if testifying, I would admit to it. Why not? If America would want to know everything about who I am before appointing me to a lifetime position, it would be the least I could do. It should be at least a little embarrassing and humiliating to consider an august appointment like that.

But aside from stupid comments, naw, I absolutely never put my hands on a woman or girl if she didn't want them there and never tried to stifle a person's screams. The only time I put my hands on someone who didn't want them was in a fight, and that was with other boys who had it coming and had their fists up. I'm pretty sure it's similar for you. We were raised right. What the allegations detail is not child's play or rough-housing, at all. These weren't grade-schoolers wrestling.

One thing that seems entirely lost is the extent to which Kav's many many trips to church have had almost no effect on his personality, whether he's guilty of the allegations here or not. He's spiteful to perceived enemies, angry, entitled and boastfully proud. Not exactly what Christ would have his followers become, but here we are. Maybe he focused on the Old Testament.

The moment he admitted his daughter wanted to "pray for the woman" was pretty interesting. Seemed very complicated and genuine from him, maybe even momentarily reflective. (Or it could all have been scripted -- what do any of us really know.)

Stall tactics after stall tactics, this will be neverending and everyone knows it. A week my ass, this is all about delaying till midterms and to agree to the crybabies over and over is flat out rediculous.

Here's your first problem. Sexual assault is not "high school crap" and it's irrelevant when it happened.

Well, if it happened and he said it didn't, he's lying.

Everyone lies is not a defense for lying.

I like a person, who when up for a lifetime appointment to The Supreme Court of the United States, can show some emotional restraint, understand that his job is not political, and not throw a hissy fit when confronted by things that are very much within the scope of considering someone for a job like this.
