It is interesting we haven't heard another report from WOJ on the Butler talks. We have the Berman report and the New Potato Head report(s).
What could the Rockets possibly offer that minny would say fair trade? Carmelo, eric gordon, cp3? I dont think Rockets have any reasonable pieces they are willing to let go of.
In any negotiations, the ones that have leverage has an advantage. They NEED to trade JB, we can stay put and wait for buyouts.
Berman probably has something going with Ferttita directly. And it could even all be a ploy, trying to increase tickets sales before Astros playoffs start.
Yeah, but if there are other competing offers, then the leverage goes back to the seller. Also, if Minny really wanted to contend, why would they want to help Houston, or any team in the WC?
1) The "competing offers" are likely competing at 40 cents on the dollar. 2) Minny has to move Butler. Any move is a downgrade. They aren't looking to "contend" but rather, looking "just to make the playoffs." Helping Houston doesn't hurt them. Helping a team like the Clippers, who would be competing with them for the 8th seed, does.
That doesn't change the fact that if someone offers 50 cents over your 40 cents, you still don't get the deal. If several parties want to good bad enough, it can rise back to a dollar.
I think we can agree that there are many factors involved why Minny wants to trade him. Us on the other hand, don't require to do this trade and still have a shot at GS. It's not do or die situation for us.
True, but the Seller still is a disadvantage. Especially with the timetable. A lot of it could hinge on if Miami is willing to give up Josh Richardson or not. Seems as if they are not right now. We'll see.
EGo ($13.5M) + 1st would have to go to MINN since Knight & Chriss cannot be combined in a deal Then comes down to either PJ ($8M) or Nene ($3.7M) to match Jimmy's ($20.5M) Gotta hope they will take Nene Considering they play a combined 60-70 MPG, would EGo + PJ for Jimmy even be an upgrade?
In our system I prefer EG over JB if I only get one. I'd prefer both so find a 3rd team for salary match and trade our 2019 and 2021 1st round picks.
I don't think there's any way we could get him without EG, and we're going to have to be careful with picks for the next few years. With CP3, Harden, Clint locked in, we're going to need quality play on rookie scale contracts. This becomes even more important if we're paying Butler
I actually think we don't care about picks BECAUSE we have Harden, CP3, Clint, etc... we have a 2-4 year window so picks in those years aren't as important imo. Let's be honest our pick next year won't make the team just like this years was traded. We don't need them now.
