it's documented... and it is pertinent to the guy's partisanship and political bias.. and EVERYONE should care if a judge is so political that he is willing to ask questions simply to smear an opposition. It speaks to his not being impartial and objective to serve on the highest court.

I get that he's indignant about these "attacks" (if it's 100% false, which some assume as if they were present in every alleged incident). But either way, he's a bit of a hothead. I still can't believe he asked the senator if she had a drinking problem. But she handled it well, and he apologized after a cool-off period.

And either way, he'd very partisan, just fitting right into a very partisan political atmosphere. We used to have higher aims for the court, but he's probably the SCOTUS candidate we deserve right now either way. If he's confirmed, I hope he can not viscerally hate the millions in the nation who lean to the left.

Random, but are we supposed to believe this senate committee is capable of performing an investigation, much less one on the level of the FBI?

I'm not sure why this keeps getting reiterated? Surely, it's not that difficult to understand how an FBI investigation would be different? This committee itself is already relying on random journalist reports to get info, so their investigation must have sucked.

Have an investigation, let them find nothing, have him get admitted. Not complicated.

It would not be beyond belief that Feinstein would do something so underhanded and political as to engineer a 12th-hour leak to force delays in the confirmation process. In fact, I mostly believe she probably did. Sneaky sneaky. But Feinstein playing dirty tricks does not mean Ford is lying, it does not mean the allegation doesn't need an FBI investigation, and it does not mean the confirmation vote shouldn't be delayed. All it means is she outmaneuvered the Republicans. Republicans could have parried by delaying the vote and asking the FBI to step in. Trump could have withdrawn his nomination and named someone else. Instead, they elected to try to cram it through, not knowing that at the same time they would do this mock hearing for Ford, they'd have the Ramirez thing, the gang rape thing, and a thousand alums from these schools describing what a toxic culture they had. They couldn't push BK out of the way of the bus in time and he got flattened. That's not Feinstein's doing; they're all adult scumbags who know how to play the game. They just haven't played it well. Or maybe they did play it well, but the cards didn't go in their favor.

I thought I heard a Senator describe the average process as being 65 days or so and we are well beyond that.

I don't think one can call this a "short process"

It isn't one woman, it is 4 women.

At the end of the day it isn't a criminal trial. The Senate listens and then decides on whether to confirm him or not.
