They sat on this information for months, from...August all the way until.... September!

There can be no complaints about timing, the Republicans/Grassley were and still are in complete, absolute, sole control of the timeline.

The wanted a short process? Fine, but that means everything is by definition rushed and a surprise.

Just bad optics. When Cornyn was angrily shouting, Kav was like "Yes. Sir. Senator" and when he was nicely questioned by a woman senator, he was lashing out angrily. He is a judge. He should appear as if he can control his emotions some.

It's a he said, she said (and also, she said, she said, and she said, and also another guy who was there but won't say under oath).

It's only a he said/she said because that's the best spin they could put on ol' Brett - and it's obvious why, judigng by the last 2 hours.

Why is requesting an FBI investigation unfair? Seems a reasonable solution that would act to clear kavanaugh if that is what the FBI found. Feinstein kept the letter in confidence at the request of Ms Ford. She only went out with the letter after republicans leaked Ford's name to Whelan.

And what would be the harm if the seat wasn't filled until after the midterms. The senate will still be republican held, if that's the fear. Sure seems a more reasonable reason for delay than what was done to Merrick Garland.

well, the good news for the nominee is that it won't likely be tonight's sound bite on the evening news . . . this one on the other hand :D

I think the Democrats have done enough scummy things to where his confirmation is all but a lock now. There was a time before Kavanaugh's testimony to where that was slightly in question.

Why is there so much emphasis on timeline??

Is there a deadline to get a new judge on the court?

Senator Coons is taking the correct approach and coming across better than some from his side has.

Did you witness the hearing today? I would sooner have Amelia Bedelia conduct an investigation. None of them give a rat's ass about the truth of the matter, they just want to make it as politically easy or hard as possible to confirm BK. Journalists are better equipped, but not nearly as equipped as actual investigators. They can't subpoena anyone. And, one half or the other of the country won't believe what they find, depending on the publication brand. So, yeah, really. 'Investigation' thus far is an insult and a joke. We know there is only one appropriate, credible body that can do something we can call an investigation, and that's the FBI. If BK is unjustly slandered, it's because the FBI would not step in.

Well Coons was doing well, then he tipped his hand that all he's after is a delay no matter what.

Why would he agree to an investigation when they spring this at the last moment? It’s rediculous and they have their ownselves to blame for running out of time.

I believe everyone (including you) can understand the righteous indignation of having to listen to smear after smear coming from those who oppose you and everything you stand for. I would be shocked if he DIDN'T act that way...
