The problem with being disgusting and unfair is that you can push fence sitters like Graham into being firmly against you.

I honestly can't believe this is where we are as a country. This is a carnival on both sides and we're never going to come back from it. There are no better angels going forward.

That was a weak answer, he should have just answered that he got drunk and threw up.

Graham is not a fence sitter anymore. He has moved firmly into Camp Trump. He's probably the most vocally pro-Trump member of the Senate now.

Except that's not the reason it was because Bush asked for one.

And I have caught up now and it's clear you have no idea of what FBI can and cannot investigate.

    States rights LOL.

I know you think that I'm anti-Kavenaugh, but I'm not. I have no idea who is telling the truth and I feel bad for everyone involved in this charade.

That said, I think he's been very dodgy on the drinking questions. He may have had or may still have a significant drinking problem and I hope that it gets dealt with. Aside from that, I long for a time in the future where we can move beyond the pearl clutching and someone could answer and say "yes, I got drunk and passed out" and no one want to faint over it.

yes. he is answering those question in a very unnecessary manner.
answer it in simpler terms. he is trying to get irritated and be a smartass about it. and now throwing in random statements about how he got into law school.

Some folks who go too long without a drink get a little withdrawal edge. The shakes. Irritable. He was on the stand a long time.

    Oh, yeah...

Right, but you'd definitely say you didn't do it, yes? He didn't do that.

Breaking news: If you got drunk in High School or College you can no longer be on the United States Supreme Court and are probably a rapist.

me and FBI director Chris Wray.

As for Bush asking, he did, and the FBI answered 'yes' because its in their jurisdiction because Hill was claiming a federal crime.

He's kind of made the drinking into a bigger deal by downplaying it so much.

But yes, I agree with your sarcastic point that drinking doesn't disqualify people. I do pick up on a lot of his answers though being reminiscent of people I know who drink/drank way too much and try to lie about it.

My guess is that he was a major binge drinker in high school and college and doesn't want to say that because it's embarrassing, doesn't want to explain it to his kids, etc. He probably lived a frat boy lifestyle and probably did things he's ashamed of while drunk.

Right and IMO he probably was crashed out drunk at the beach at some point.

Yeah I agree, and I get what he's trying to get at, he wants to point out that he wasn't a hellraiser, that he was a good kid, it's just not coming across well. Point is that a person who did all the things after school that he did while being #1 in his class couldn't have been the frat kid they are trying to make him look like.

I'm thinking it's more that he thought drinking was cool in high school and so he overstated what actually happened. He was way too busy and too much of a nerd to be a "major binge drinker" in high school.
