No matter your party, I would hope (in vain) we could agree on this:

it is disgusting to want to rush any confirmation to a lifetime crucial appointment just to win points with voters ahead of an early-November midterm election. That is just asinine, if you care about the long term health and integrity of the country.

 

C'mon kid, if you don't have special needs there's no excuse in this. An FBI investigation wouldn't provide evidence and corroboration for a baseless claim, it would merely gather the facts....something that has already been done. Those facts are that literally no one corroborates her story. The ONLY reason we keep hearing talk about an FBI investigation is because the goal is to delay things. That's why Ford lied or exaggerated in order to push this to Thursday instead of Monday, that's why they want the FBI investigation, that's why we've had the steady stream of baseless allegations.

Don't be stupid.

 

That's not why they are rushing. They are rushing to vote so that if he doesn't get confirmed they have time to get the next person in during the lame duck session without worrying what happens during the midterms. It takes 50-70 days to confirm someone. If they vote down Kavanaugh next week they have plenty of time to get the next person confirmed. An "investigation" that goes on for weeks/months could prevent that.

 

Clinton was impeached for obstruction of justice and perjury, not sexual misconduct.

As to what Senator Graham said, he's right. If this lynching on the grounds of baseless allegations is successful these kinds of lynchings will become the new normal.

 

Well, thanks for that perspective. That makes sense.

Along those lines though, if the nation can't feel that Kav has time for proper investigation and vetting, it would be better to move quickly to a candidate with less baggage, but you and I don't get to make that call.

I know this might sound really dumb: I feel kind of badly for Kavanaugh's wife if she's watching all this.

Good lord. I wonder if she's either: headlocked on accuser as fabricator, or actually starting to have doubts about her husband's younger days.

LOL, I was right, the Senator from Hawaii who said earlier that Ford should be believed over Kavanaugh on the basis of him being a man just tried to chastise people for "pre-judging" this situation....

 

Other than the fear of flying bit, she may not be lying, but she certainly has nothing to support her claims.

 

They weren't surprised by that, they just wanted to get it on the record. If you take a polygraph while in an emotionally compromised state, it'll skew the results. They wanted it done as quickly after her mother's funeral to have her in the most emotionally compromised state.
