I thought at the time I voted Oakland that they would pass us because they had all the momentum and none of the injuries we were dealing with. Glad I was wrong. Oakland is a very good team and I would not be surprised if they beat the Yankees in the one game wild card playoff. We are a great team because we always find a way to win. Whether it is Altuve catching an errant throw by Sipp a couple of nights ago that was heading towards center field and turning it into a double play, or the 9 run 8th after giving up 5 runs in the top of the 8th against the Angels last week or countless other examples looks like we have a great chance to go all the way again this year.
I hope this helps shed some light on mythical baseball "momentum".... which becomes even more mythical in the playoffs.
Does this mean you'll shut up about your "it's great OAK is pushing us because we get to play meaningful games heading into the playoffs" theory ?!?
It was clearly stated in post #2 we might have a laugh at the doubters. No one forced you to vote for the As.
There’s a clear difference between being on a hot steak and playing meaningful games that one can ill-afford to lose. The Astros have clearly upped their level of play to match Oakland’s torrid turnaround.
Bump. Some folks in the game thread are calling the series over because we are down 1 run in a 1-1 series.
