Everyone in the history of the Astros under Hinch would disagree with that, players from other orgs and whatnot except that one guy Who to believe?
Wasn't LMJ critical of the communication last year heading into the playoffs? Though, I'm not sure LMJ was too happy at the moment. Even though Bud Norris was gone by the time Hinch got here, I'm sure he would be critical of Hinch's communication skills as well out of principle.
Many here are confusing "communication" with being demoted or assigned to a new role. No pitcher is happy when they're told that they're not good enough for the job they expected to have. If you take the comments at face value, you get the impression that the team didn't try to get him through his struggles, and work with him to get better. That is what Hinch is most pissed off at... the insinuation that the organization doesn't do whatever it takes to get players where they would like them to be, with a culture that is not over-bearing nor unforgiving.
You just blew my mind. I never realized Giles was a palindrome (or a semordnilap) of Selig. That kid needs to mind his manners. I'm all for speaking up...but not when it's just blatantly incorrect. There's no secret that the Astros have an awesome clubhouse culture. Giles just never could handle the pressure of being a high profile trade for a successful team. He'll be a good closer on crappy teams the rest of his career. That's where he can get away with a high 3 or into the 4's era. Just isn't going to fly with a team that needs him to be on every night and in pressure packed situations...especially when he's going to do idiotic things like punching himself in the face while walking off the field.
LMJ's comments, from what I remember, were specifically on communication not being clear on what he needed to do and how he would be used in playoffs based on what he was able to do. The Bud Norris thing was purely a joke because he would say anything he can bad about the Astros whether it was true or not. As such, I don't see how your comment applies to my response.
I think the part in bold might speak to the "no defined roles" in the bullpen that the Astros touted going into the season. It wasn't necessarily "closer by committee," but Hinch did say that he'd use his high leverage relief pitchers when the need was greatest regardless of the inning. Maybe that's what Giles is butt hurt about with respect to communication? Regardless, I'm glad it won't be him melting down on the mound/in the dugout for the Astros come October. Go 'stros!!
Peace bond for Osuna and assault charges withdrawn . Basically he has to be on good behavior for a while and sounds like there are no further criminal proceedings ?
Sauces? That was the plan. This was possibly the best thing to happen for him and the team. I hope he stays out of trouble and him/the potential victim can find peace. He's going to be on a short leash the rest of his career. Don't blow this second chance Osuna, not many get these opportunities. Too talented and almost threw his career away.
I hope every single nat’l reporter who prematurely and publicly scolded Osuna/Luhnow apologize. No chance they do, but they should. Exhibit A of reckless reporting with no regard for the truth.
While relieved that the case is now behind him, I don't necessarily think this absolves Osuna (or by extension, the Astros). It sounds like the charges were dropped, not because there was no evidence of a crime, or that the evidence wasn't sufficient, but rather, because the victim in Mexico wanted to co-parent with Osuna. Hopefully, he continues treatment and has no future issues. And hopefully the organization continues it support of local and national causes.
He’s not necessarily innocent — it sounds like the complaint was dropped which doesn’t automatically equate to innocence. However, I agree that media should reserve their judgment and stories prior to having a hearing
There is no regard for justice anymore; justice itself is under attack. I choose to believe the facts rather than always believe the woman. Culture war aside, this isn't an admission or clearance of guilt. However, it should be relief from a significant distraction.
As a few said, this could mean a few different things. I truly hope that it was really nothing big at all... maybe a shove (again still not right), but the fact that she still wants to work with Roberto at least gives me some hope there. But... knowing ESPN we will be turned into an even bigger villain saying we got this brushed aside, and again only care about winning.
