I agree. Fans always ask why Rockets let Covington go. He couldn't shoot when he was a Rocket. They see Covington now and think Rockets let him go at peak powers.
The wait is killing me. I just want this trade to happen - it would be the ultimate demoralization if Butler ends up on the thunder tho
Naw man.. I welcome the imminent basketball emasculation of Jimmy Butler if he ends up playing with OKC. It would make OKC Hate Watch 2018-2019 more intense. Jimmy returns to Tomball washed and unplayable one year with Russ.
Rockets gave Covington a deal as an undrafted rookie and sent him to the 3 and D University of Rio Grande. Spot the potential!? Rockets cultivated that sh-t!
The Rockets did spot the potential. They went out of their way to get him after the draft, pegged him as a new wave PF, worked with him a lot on his defense and shooting. He played in the NBDL in a system similar to what the Rockets ultimately ran. The Rockets kept him, worked with him for two seasons but he never consistently hit his threes so eventually they waived him. Morey especially was a big proponent of him. At the end of the day, he had chances with the Rockets and just wasn’t good enough.
And ironically he followed hinkie to philly to continue the path we started him on. Props to him, he put the work in to become a good vet
Minny is just screwed. I guess it's good he's doing this now and not just leaving them high and dry in the offseason, but it sucks to be them.
Yea the realization you can't manufacture trade value, no matter how good a player is. Shitty offers are shitty offers.
Thibs, just give it a rest already...dude has made it clear he doesn’t want to be there and the owner wants him out too this is sad now take this Ego+fillers trade package and call it day
And Thibs doesn't want to start the season with a divided squad. A horrible start could get him fired. Butler has all the leverage here.
Before I pass out: I'm sorry, but my Jimmy ear was stronger during the offseason when the Rockets were really going hard at him as their wildcard. @cyberx has much more intel on this than my Earry , cancer-ridden arse. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ But...I have heard that that the relationship between Jim and Minny is irreconcilable .I can explain more later, but it's beyond basketball. The only team who hasn't inquired (apparently, again) is Chicago. (Bad Joke) Jimmy's so-called list isn't what the media made it out to be. He simply doesn't want to play for a team that's not ready to go deep into the playoffs and finals. That opens the door up a bit. The little boy from the 6 has made it very messy. KAT is ...evolving LeBron is pushing apparently. I don't care to argue. I'm just reporting what was said to me...the "The Lakers won't trade so and so because______" is not my interest this late. But, Magic will keep his guy happy, even if that means sacrificing something. One Ear: Washington and Miami sound like the frontrunners (along with the LeBrons) as of right now (10:30 P.M.) Houston is right there, always waiting to pounce. The asking price is high though. A third team is trying to be invited to eat some/gift some. Again, some of you don't understand the pain in some of these deals. The glue guys, the locker room leaders....it happens. But the reward is like....Josh Smith Part One. If JB is a Rocket, EGo is apparently a central piece, our International Mystery along with the Turn Around, ?pick and perhaps a personal _ightmare for yours truly. No Tuck. But the reward....the reward may not be just Jimmy....#MostknownUnknowns #FreeBirds Finally....Brooklyn is also serious (Thought not Jimmy's desire for winning culture) And...Thibs is known to be stubborn and to hold grudges. There's ALWAYS the play where Thibs gets the best offer, but Jimmy ends up somewhere, well, "irrelevant" to his career goals Lastly, This can change as I post it. Admittedly, my reach into Jim isn't as thorough (as I mentioned). Shout out to Cyber. Until tomorrow... I apologize, I'm just a bit tired today. Jimmy has played his last game in Minny. He's happy about it, and unfortunately, his teammates aren't going to miss him much. #BurnItDown
This strikes me as total spin after the owner basically told Butler to stay away on media day. Of course, Thibs wants to find a way to make these players fit together. It seems like the inevitable is around the corner. My guess is that Taylor is simply trying to decide who has made the best offer at this point (and hoping that someone will come in with something better). My guess is that the other GMs will call his bluff. Minnesota's going to be left with a less than desirable Butler trade but that's what happens when a star gets disillusioned and their contract get shorter. Butler's endgame should be a warning to all GMs: once a star's contract is 18 months out, you have to be strategic. Either build goodwill or entertain trades early. Waiting is always costly.
Thanks so much for the update @Codman!!! Hope you have been doing well! So I wonder what our best offer is... 1. EG, definitely 2. International Mystery... Llull? Qi? 3. Turn Around... Hartenstein? 4. 1* draft pick (2019 1st?) 5. Personal Nightmare... (gotta be losing) Nene
