All series talk goes in here. Non series talk goes somewhere else. No PBP, that can be found from other sources if you need it. All games are broadcast on AT&T Sports SW unless otherwise noted. 9-24 Dallas Keuchel (L) vs. Marco Estrada (R) 6:07 MLBN (out-of-market only) 9-25 Josh James (R) vs. Sam Gaviglio (R) 6:07 9-26 TBA vs. Sean Reid-Foley (R) 3:07 MLBN (out-of-market only)
The offense should get a healthy padding over these last 7 games because we are facing extremely weak pitching.
https://www.chron.com/sports/astros/article/Ken-Giles-says-he-felt-trapped-with-Astros-13252224.php Maybe Giles will get a save chance against his former team.... you know, the one that trapped him.
Any chance we see LMJ on Wednesday? Not that there is any reason to start him when his postseason role will be in the pen and he'd likely be limited to a couple of innings max anyway. Cionel Perez or Brad Peacock would seem the other most logical choices.
Alright back on the road... let's get some... hopefully Correa can find some groove too (though I'm not optimistic)
I would love nothing better than Giles to come in with the lead.... walk a batter, have a passed ball..... give up a single and then have White go deep off him for an Astros win.
Who pitches Wednesday depends on the magic number and the Astros lining up pitchers for their first playoff series, right?
Correa is pitching wednesday. No really.... who knows, a lot of options available. Maybe they go the way of the Rays and just throw a lot of relievers out there for an inning or two if the pen is really rested.
They should use JD Davis as an opener!! But yeah, probably get innings out of C. Perez, Deetz, Devo, Harris. I wonder if they'd bother calling up Brady Rodgers for that matter.
My prediction of Giles being on the mound when the Astros clinch the division still may come true ... how sweet would that be
Cole would normally be in line for Wednesday. I guess they're pushing him back to the Baltimore series.
I think Cole was already pushed back to Thursday. Valdez was scheduled for tomorrow and James on Wednesday. With Valdez pitching yesterday, James moves up a day and Wednesday likely becomes a bullpen day. I wouldn't be surprised to see Lance get the start and get in a couple of innings. It would make sense to use him as the opener with his starting experience then let him go 1 or 2 and bring in relievers.
In general, I'd agree, but I'd almost rather Lance comes in out of the pen to prep for the post season. Starters have their starters 'routine -- Lance needs to get comfortable coming in with a few batters' notice.
I am REALLY hoping the Astros are down in the top of the 9th by 2 runs...................SO BAD......
