17 years and counting..... For 17 years and counting the Taliban and their goat farming warriors have been starring at the barrel of our military and guess what? They are winning. The ONLY reason we are still in Afghanistan is because whomever the current president is doesn't want to be the guy that pulls out and watches the Taliban take it over again within 6 months. Our military can't fight a guerilla war, and the Taliban's armor and heavy vehicles were mostly destroyed in the first few weeks. Every once and a while they would show up with heavy weapons, but for the most part they beat us back from our outposts to our main bases with small arms, IEDs, and hit and run tactics. A dork in Austin was able to build IEDs, and I would have no interest in slogging up the Appalachian Mountains trying to fight the hillbilly rebels on their turf armed with dynamite and AR15s. Not to mention...if we had some kind of major civil war/rebellion you would have Russia, Iran, and other nations chomping at the bit to watch us burn and supply weapons to increase the chaos. There are tens of millions of "assault rifles" in the wild in this country. We know what one guy can do in a hotel room with a few rifles, and I don't even know if that guy ever had any real training. They won't march across the country like the South in the Civil War. They will be terrorists amongst us, and the blue print on how to do that has been written. Imagine 10 of those Austin bombers and 10 of those Vegas shooters at the same time across the country. That's what it will look like.
It wouldn't have to, the military is made up of the people, which is different than in the American revolutionary war. If there were to be a serious revolution against the government, a significant portion of the military would likely side with the people. Before you'd know it, the "revolutionary army" would use their AR-15's to acquire drones and other weapons. That's why it's so important to have an armed public....and the more afraid of the people the government is, the better. It keeps them in check.
What a stupid post. The United States military was not divesting all its military might to invade Afghanistan. If the United States wanted to take over the country by sheer will with no care for "hearts and minds" that would take over Afghanistan within a few days. A US military that is unhinged enough to attack its own citizens on its own soil will obliterate whatever is its path.
If there’s a coup d atat I don’t think the military wants a bunch of fat internet nerds coming to their aid.
That’s true. I had a buddy who is a pilot that almost took a job doing it. But he had a discussion with a guy who was currently doing it and he said that the hardest thing to do is accidentally gun down civilians in the Middle East then go home to your wife and kids at dinner. He decided it wasn’t a fit for hI’m.
Illiterate peasants challenging an invading US military is a model that has been well tested for the last 70 years.
The amount of money taxpayers spend on agencies that spy upon ourselves and the hundreds of thousands of people with clearance to view that data is reflective of the fears the government has of the people. The fact that they can dig up the entire spectrum of my online, phone call, and non-cash purchase histories since the dawn of time is a high price to pay for some unregistered guns plus the mass shootings it brings. The nsa can’t or won’t even prevent the latter. At least we got rampant paranoia about the DEEP STATE BEAST to support even more gun purchases. Because in America, the more guns you have, the safer we all will be! And if you don’t feel safe, buy more guns dummy!!
The rebels also had the full support of France, the Spanish Empire, and the Dutch Republic, the UK's main rivals in Europe. Even if it was a calculated move, without their help, the British would have won. There's a reason they had to surrender to both the Americans and the French after the Battle of Yorktown:
The way that the government spends money like a drunken sailor in a XXXXX house, any tax increase is insufferable. Any tax decrease is a good thing.
I don't think it's accurate that the Trump tax cut will benefit the "wealthy." Look at the reduction in the mortgage interest that upper income people can deduct; look at the cap on the local property taxes upper income people can deduct. From what I can tell, it is the middle class that benefit from the tax cut the most. I mentioned my buddy the teacher somewhere in this thread. He hates Trump with a passion. But he is married, with two kids, and he is going to benefit from the tax cut much more than I am, because he is married with kids, and because of his income level (median-level). But he still hates Trump......
Well, I guess I would be repeating myself to say it's irrelevant. Who is more likely to reach into your pocket to confiscate your hard-earned wages? True, Cruz might, but Beta certainly will.
How do we know that Ted isn't running away with the race? The only poll that matters happens in November.
If you want to vote for a giant p***y that won't stand up to bullies, that's certainly your choice. All things being equal (they're not), I'm going to lean towards the guy who's own family doesn't recoil from him in absolute disgust.
it's a senate race not a dictator. neither of these individuals will directly confiscate ****. but one for sure will take money from corporations to serve their interest and not you the voter. and that's the point isn't it. you have a vote and that's suppose matter. win or lose your voice is heard. one candidate will for sure listen to voters for and against and has said so many times proving a losing vote still matters. the other candidate gets his talking points from corporations who don't have a vote and has shown that your vote is irrelevant. up to you if you want to waste your vote on a candidate who could care less about it. if you absolutely cannot bring yourself to vote for a democrat a non-vote would be more powerful for your cause than wasting on a candidate who could give a rats ass about you and your vote. i hope you make the right choice by voting for beto or at the very lest abstaining from ted. you know deep down either is the correct thing to do.
well, youre wrong. also, i dont think its accurate to say that i said that "trump tax cut will benefit the wealthy". i said they will disproportionately benefit the wealthy over the rest of us and that is a fact. i said the trump tax cuts "were heavily weighted towards the wealthiest americans AND will add $1 trillion to the deficit over the next 10 years." https://www.newsweek.com/trump-tax-cuts-rich-americans-republicans-1133372 https://www.thebalance.com/trump-s-tax-plan-how-it-affects-you-4113968 furthermore, trumps tariffs and protectionist trade policies (conservatives believe in free market capitalism, right?) are hurting americans by raising the prices on the things they buy. homebuilders are reporting a 9% increase in materials due to the trump tariffs - who do you think those costs are going to be passed onto? you think builders are absorbing that? and dont get me started on comrade trumps plan to give $12 billion of our tax dollars to american farmers hurt by the tariffs - everyone knows that is nothing more than a bribe to keep their votes - that is oh so fiscally conservative, isnt it?
again, cruz has already proven his fiscal irresponsibility, selfishness and shortsightedness with his support of the trump tax cuts that are weighted towards the wealthiest americans and will add $1 trillion to the debt over 10 years plus the $25 billion border wall (that mexico was supposed to pay for).
Well it's not accurate to say that the Trump tax cut was for the "wealthy", but if you are going into this kind of conversation expecting honesty and accuracy from DNC apologists then you merely set yourself up for failure. You simply can't expect honesty of accuracy in the #Resist era.
look at boreby saying its not accurate to say that the trump tax cuts were for the wealthy while complaining that others are not honest and accurate! haha - this is some top-level irony right here folks!
