That is the beauty of the process, we don't have to believe her.

We can have an investigation and deal in the facts.

Well then it's unfortunate that they didn't just do a vote to reject Garland if it would have prevented women from lying to prevent Kavanaugh's confirmation. It's just unfortunate that people could stoop so low due to being triggered by normal politics working as they were intended to.

Nothing is being "rammed through", hell they even decided to derail the whole process just to dignify a baseless allegation....and since they were foolish enough to do that, now they have more baseless allegations attempting to derail the process even longer. There's literally nothing in Kavanaugh's history that suggests concerns when it comes to moral decency or character....and no number of baseless allegations will change that.

That's assuming that an investigation into completely baseless accusations could ever come up with "facts" other than...."Well you know that baseless non credible nonsense you had me waste my time with? Yeah well turns out there's literally nothing supporting those claims....you know, just like everyone knew before you wasted my time with it"

You are an immoral despicable human being. If a woman is lying charge her. You condoning an attempt to rape of a human being is disgusting you are a worthless human scum. Your mother should be disgusted by your behavior. I would not be surprised if you revenged raped someone with the attitude you just express

Fair enough. An investigation is ongoing. They have talked with the people Ford said were there.

The specific place I can maybe understand, but the YEAR? Something as traumatic as this, and she doesn't remember the YEAR? Yes, this does matter. When such basic details as this can be recollected...it calls into question the story, or at least whether the other events that were alleged occurred as described.

Do they? From what I had heard so far none of the four people Ford mentioned recall the incident, or even the party.

How many of those parties were you assaulted and in fear for your life? Yes, asking someone about a random party....them being hazy on the details is perfectly understandable. But you really think that someone who was almost raped wouldn't remember at least which summer it happened in? I personally find that, well, unbelievable. The specific day, or even the month...ok. But the YEAR? No. It would seem to me this would be pretty easy to remember, in relevance to other events (ie, it made me uncomfortable my who Junior year...ah, so it occurred the summer before that)

This presents a problem in investigating, or for the accused to refute. How, for example, could you either confirm or deny you were at a party...when none of the details of the party, like where or when it was, are provided? You certainly couldn't demonstrate you weren't there. How do you find out who else may have been there...which has the same problems. Conversely, this makes the initial investigation pretty short. You talk to the few people Ford mentioned, and ask them if they remember this. They have done that...and none of them recall it.

I'm not trying to castigate Ford. I do believe, so far, that she believes this happened. I'm sorry, and sad, about the impact this even has had on her life, and most especially on what she's endured since this came out. But the gaps in her memory, and in the inability of anyone else to corroborate any of it, make it quite difficult to pass any judgement. Unless we go down the path of 'it happened simply because she said it did'. That's a VERY slippery slope
Given the reference to the possible alternate identity, which I brought up (not sure if anyone did before then)...that in no way implied sweep it under the rug. It did imply that there are alternate explanations, which take all of the facts she recollects, but don't lead to a conclusion that Kavanaugh did...anything, or was even there. When there are large gaps in the accuser's recollection, it opens up trying to fill in those gaps and see if there are other plausible explanations for what happened.

But your stance indicates the dilemma Republicans face (which is certainly part of the Dem strategy on this). How do you defend Kavanaugh without being accused of sweeping this under the rug?

It is being done to address the issue about them being biased, and being perceived as being harsh in their questioning of her. As such, it seems to absolutely be doing their job as Senators, given the situation they have been thrust into.

Well, they picked someone who had already been through SIX FBI background checks and confirmation hearings. It's hard to imagine how they could have been more careful.

That's a good point and it's really what the Senate Republicans should have done when it was clear that the first allegation was baseless, instead, they played along and now there will be a never ending stream of false allegations in an attempt to further a political agenda. It's absolutely pathetic, but that's just the state of the unhinged left today, you can't assume that any despicable tactic is off limits to them.

Honestly it wouldn't have mattered who they picked, if they were male, they were going to have these kinds of false allegations, if they were female, it would probably be allegations of racism or something like that. The tactics the Democrats were going to try and use were determined a long time ago, it just took them some time to find the people to lie for them.

The concern with all those docs, I believe, is that they clearly outlined his record as a judge...thereby providing lots of things for the Dems to take issue with. You can't really obfuscate when your legal opinions are well known and documented. I don't think they 'hid' anything...it was more concern about since there was so much documentation, those opposed would find something in there somewhere to question.

Which given the majority in the Senate, the GOP really had no reason to fear judicial documents. Something more seirous must have been known by MCconnell to be afraid of a potential BK nomination hearing proccess.

Whatever was in BK's judicial past in terms of documents was nothing any GOP senator would be willing to vote against. That is not how the current GOP Senate works.

So it leads me to believe that MCconnell knew something else that was irellevent to his judicial past and more likely something to do with his personal life to fear a BK nomination process .

So these 'lunatics' did not exist a few months ago when Gorsuch was filling the spot that the left felt was robbed from them by the GOP and his confirmation making the court conservative? But they were turned mad cos Kavanaugh was replacing another conservative judge that is retiring - ROTFLMFAO!!!!

BTW same Kavanaugh is involved in a yale case in which law professor Amy Chua is accused of 'grooming' ladies for him

Those students must be left wing lunatics as well - lol

She can't go to the police, statute of limitations.

FBI can investigate as it's their duty to check on major appointments. Since Kavanaugh stated under oath he has never committed a sexual crime, FBI needs to see if he was telling the truth. If he committed perjury, he should not be trusted to be a judge much less a justice.

The level of desperation has increased significantly since then thus increasing the despicable tactics they are willing to roll with. I mean, I expected the one baseless accusation because they've gone that route before, I didn't expect a seemingly never ending supply of baseless allegations....that's a new low.

What I don't understand that this could be all over. You all keep screaming this is a Democratic stalling tactic, but it would be all over if Republicans just said, ok, let the FBI do their 3 day investigation and then let the committee review the findings and then vote - boom!

Instead, the Republicans are SCARED of a 3 day investigation? They are SCARED to call witnesses like Mark Judge to testify under OATH?

Sounds like Republicans are SCARED of the truth. That Kavanaugh has done inappropriate sexual acts and he has committed perjury. They need to rush him through before the facts come out.

Quite. You bet your candy ass people will still talk about Bork twenty years from now like it was the Battle of Goliad in The War Reagan Saved America.

Very convenient excuse to justify petty behavior while rallying up the frothing masses.

There are always consequences. Your triggered imagination about these women and what you think they deserve is one among them.

Let’s say they were baseless and he gets confirmed. What rustled your Jimmies the most?

A very fair post. I would only add, given the above, that it seems highly likely she believes she was assaulted. What actually happened we will probably never know. Just as with mistaken identity, there can be mistaken intent, actions, etc.
