@CCorn Why dont we ask him then?

Please tell me the other issues you care about? Cause to me so far you have said the strongest reason you are voting for Cruz is cause of gun rights. So healthcare, education, the economy, net neutrality, global warming...what about those, do you care?

Beto and Cruz aren't running in a national election. They are running in a TEXAS election.... the state that happens to be the most armed state in the country. So it's not surprising that people vote mainly for a pro 2nd amendment candidate in this state.

His reasons are his own. He has no requirement to defend them. It seems many people are voting against Cruz because of his physical appearance which is also allowed and probably you disagree with.

To demonstrate a quid pro quo you have to show a shift in position. You haven't

He clearly said it in the debate. Did you not watch it? He stated that a handgun wound is much more survivable than a high velocity rifle round. He referenced an ER room doctor as his source for this information. I agree with the science of that but am curious what his velocity cutoff would be. a simple question.

lol. that is not true at all.

you are worked up because he stated that a handgun wound is more survivable than a high velocity rifle round? im no expert on it, but that seems pretty common sense to me...and you even admit that you "agree"! but youre still upset that he said it! amazing!

    Wow.

Ted Cruz is feeling the heat so much that he bought ad time during the the Texans game for a campaign spot.

I'll be honestly shocked if Grandpa Munster loses, but apparently he's concerned enough to loosen the purse strings.

Of course it is. I said he is the greatest advocate in the senate, it would make sense he has the most support from people like myself. You said his position is merely a reflection of money that paid for it. You would need to demonstrate that conspiracy theory with facts.

So we've gone outside of discussion to obfuscation. I'm glad you are no longer claiming he never said that and giving me grandpa level hyperlinks. I'm interested in the facts and real world legislation he would support. He gave a fact about firearm cartridge velocity that he verified with an ER doctor. I want to know the number he translates that to in legislation.

He also represents us IN THE SENATE which is national. Yea I'm aware of how much Texans love their guns, its fine no one is going completely take the away. Like I said before there are other issues nationally and locally that are much more pressing than guns and if we dont fix them our lives are screwed.
Just because its allowed doesnt mean it isnt stupid, I'll be surprised if hes actually voting for Beto cause he plays in a band lol.

It isn't for you to judge. you have control over your own vote only. You either trust the electorate or you don't.

*edit, ah y’all were talking about me. I missed a few posts.

He wasn’t talking about me, he was talking about you. And I voted for Cruz in 2012, as I’ve said before. I actually volunteered on his campaign.

I’ll be voting for Beto this time because in addition to my views changing from what I was raised to believe, Cruz is a coward. He presented himself so well in 2011 and I thought he would be a great leader for this country, but he’s become nothing but a spineless coward. if you need more proof, you don’t even need to look at the 2016 election, look at how he presented himself in Friday’s debate. He used exaggerations and straw mans to spread fear to voters.

    Additionally:

I support a candidate who allows a woman to chose what’s best for her body.

I believe we should have path to citizenship for all these workers here both political parties actually want, one just lies and uses it as a talking point. At least here in Texas.

I work in tech and need a candidate that wants to protect the interntet and supports net neutrality so that startups can continue to be competitive with the big boys.

We need to end the war on drugs. I have friends who are spending time in county for petty drug convictions. Yes they made mistakes but I don’t understand why one of my friends is spending 5 years for doing something that never harmed anyone but himself.

I also believe we need to explore options to give teachers opportunities to make more money.

I can’t support a candidate that says he’s fighting for “religious freedom” when he’s really only fighting for Christianity.

Also, an issue I care deeply about but don’t know enough from either candidate is national security and pulliing out of these stupid conflicts.

Also, I didn’t say I support him because he plays in A band. If it was a country band he would never have my vote. I said it was because he played with future members of Mars Volta thank you very much!

Not sure why you quoted me. I never asked. I went by your previous post. But as it stands this is my feeling:

You can vote for whomever you like for whatever reason you choose.

How to write the perfect Beto O'Rourke puff piece — don't mention his drunken car crash and attempt to flee the scene

It’s a shame that we have only a few more weeks to enjoy the national press’ fawning coverage of Democratic Senate candidate Beto O’Rourke. I’m not sure I want to live in a world where newsrooms aren’t publishing 2,000- to 4,000-plus-word articles every other week explaining how the “ Kennedyesque” Texas candidate's “ energy” has Democrats hoping he’s the “ next Obama.”

The Beto puff piece is the hot new thing in this industry, and I don’t ever want it to end. So, to keep this trend going, I’ve cobbled together a guide so anyone can write their own Beto profile ( also, check out the one the Washington Free Beacon published last month). Let's flood the market. You don’t have to be employed by the New York Times or Esquire magazine to do it. All you need is the candidate’s name and a few choice themes. Just remember these Dos and Don'ts:

    Dos:

    Talk about his energy!

    • New York Times: “He has a restless energy”
    • BuzzFeed: “O’Rourke’s energy is palpable, infectious”
    • Politico: "The early morning runs help O’Rourke ... project youth and energy"
    • Texas Monthly: "O’Rourke felt a kind of restless energy"
    Talk about driving!

    • BuzzFeed: “O’Rourke prides himself on how much of the driving he’s done during this trip across the state”
    • Town and Country: “He jumped back into the white Dodge Grand Caravan, driving it himself”
    • Time magazine: “On a dusty road in southwestern Texas, Beto O’Rourke leans out the window of the Ford Expedition he’s driving and mutters, ‘You gonna let me pass you, state police?'"
    • New York Times: He has driven “tens of thousands of miles, fueled by bad coffee and Hostess cupcakes that supporters bring him ... Driving with his left forearm and right elbow on the steering wheel”
    • Politico: "He asked an aide to lay down a towel on the driver’s seat of his Dodge Caravan, the model he rents whenever he is campaigning."
    Mention he speaks Spanish!

    • New York Times: “[H]e is speaking Spanish — which he does, fluently.”
    • Time: “O’Rourke ... spends several hours a week practicing his Spanish.”
    • BuzzFeed: “O’Rourke speaks fluent Spanish, and regularly dots his speeches with Spanish phrases”
    • Politico: “A fluent Spanish speaker”
    • Texas Monthly: He speaks fluent Spanish

    Talk about his sweat!

    • Town and Country: "As he stood on one porch, a prospective voter seemed to notice the sweat accumulating on his face and throughout his shirt, so she offered him a popsicle.”
    • Politico: "Sweat pours off his lean, 6-foot-4-inch frame"
    • BuzzFeed: "Beto O’Rourke is a prolific, prodigious sweater. We’re talking shirt-soaking, chin-dripping sweat, most visible as he takes questions from the audiences that have gathered to see him across Texas."
    My goodness is he charismatic!

    • Time: “The Congressman is lanky, handsome and charismatic”
    • Texas Monthly: "t’s O’Rourke’s charisma that sells his pitch"
[*]Politico: "He is his own strategist, and his strategy is simple: campaign relentlessly, project vitality and hope his raw charisma combines in just the right proportion with anti-Cruz animus"

    Everyone loves an underdog!

    • New York Times: "[T]he long-shot is going it alone."
    • Town and Country: "He's a Kennedyesque longshot"
    • Politico: "This, in short, is how O’Rourke plans to pull off his long-shot bid to take away Cruz’s Senate seat: by outhustling his opponent."
    • Texas Monthly: "The El Paso congressman is waging a long-shot campaign to prove a Democrat can win in Texas."
    • BuzzFeed: "In that way, he’s not unlike another young, first-time, long-shot Senate candidate who grabbed the national imagination a decade ago."
    Don'ts:

Do not under any circumstance mention his 1998 high-speed drunken car accident, including the part where witnesses said he crashed his car into oncoming traffic and endangered others' lives — as he now admits. Especially do not mention that the police report includes testimony from witnesses who claim he attempted to flee the scene of the crime. And don't mention that he managed to get off Scot free, probably because by some miracle no one was killed and even more likely because of his family's political connections.

    Speaking of Kennedy-esque.

So there you have it. Arrange any of the above Dos in any order you prefer, insert a few polling details, and bingo! You’re now the proud father of a genuine Beto O'Rourke puff piece.

LOL, you took what he said literally and used that to speak for him without any kind of nuance and you were then clearly proven wrong.
