Nets might have more pieces than the Clippers to trade, Jefferson, LeVert, Dinwiddie, 1st rounder...pretty sure Russell would be available too.

Wolves buying themselves some time with saying Butler doesn't have to do "Media Day." Get that out in the open now. Give them time to work through deals. Probably means NO DEAL this weekend. But, likely a deal in the coming weeks I would imagine.

A lot of random and meh thoughts in that article imo...Charlotte having the right pieces to make a trade, Marks taking back Wiggins with the Wolves sending out Butler with Wiggins for Russell and Crabbe (another bad contract, and it's in fact a 2 year deal, not one like it appears by using the trade machine)...Harris and Warren for Butler when the Wolves have already Wiggins looks pretty dumb too imo...also ugh at "Clippers have a playoff ready roster"...Teodosic, Bradley, Butler, Gallo, Gortat would be their starting 5 in that scenario, and i don't really see that as a playoff starting 5 in the West...

There's some validity to this but with the way Fultz didn't get off last year and your correct comments about McConnell I think Fultz needs some time to be the guy. He's young and he seemed to feed off of the energy. That could help him develop more. Very similar to Russ and Beard not for any real comparison. I thought they were shooting for Fultz acting off the ball but that appears this role appears more natural for him. Subs are always staggered so he would play full starter level minutes and overlap with Simmons. Likewise, for the same staggering reason I think the D would be covered. I think Embiid, Covington, and Simmons were the foundation of their team defense and covered a lot for Reddick and Saric where possible and not so sure they want to change that part. Even with Saric their team defense was still pretty high but exposed in the playoffs. Their bench is very typical of a rebuilding team that just has no recent history of winning. They need time to develop and add more role players and another star. For that reason they are going to a seesaw like the playoffs. It also looked to me like Simmons and Embiid were high energy guys that got gassed being out there so long at times when I saw them during the season. It makes even more sense to stagger the minutes and earlier to balance the rotation more like the Rockets do with Capela.

Typical change the subject with a straw man argument. I was responding to another poster and didn't start the conversation. Is that illegal now on the board? I only stated Chandler was better on D than Saric, which he is, responding to what DonKnock thought. You made the false argument that equated him to anything more than that.

Still think Eric Gordon package plus first rounder is as good or better than anything else I have read about from other teams.

If the Wolves owner is running the trade he is probably looking for the best "young asset" he can get. (whereas Thibs would be looking for veterans).

What is the best available young asset out there that a team would be willing to part with for Butler?

    OG and Siakam?
Problem with teams like Clippers is losing a young asset is not something they can afford if Butler bolts. I mean no one can but a team that is going for it (Toronto with Kawhi) is more willing to do so

Young asset/picks plus vet stud would allow team to stay in playoff hunt. They were ranked #3 until JB went down.

Too many young guys and Minny is out of playoffs again.

Raptors aren't trading all their young talent for two guys who can walk at the end of the year.

I didn't really get the early Raptors/Butler buzz. Minnesota should not want Serge Ibaka or Jonas Valanciunas. A package of Danny Green, Fred VanVleet (ineligible to be traded until Jan. 15) and a protected first-round pick could work, but the Raptors know they have to be ready to rebuild if Leonard bolts. I'm not sure they want to dip any further into their stash of picks and young guys -- VanVleet, Delon Wright, OG Anunoby, and Pascal Siakam -- to recruit another star on an expiring deal.

OG is really interesting but he's not going to be an all star or something better than an elite role player like Ibaka was in his prime...the other guys are meh, no upside there, i don't even see the point in doing a trade to take back Delon Wright, Siakam and VaVleet when you have Tyus Jones and Bates-Diop.

Yeah, it was surprising to see that every time while playing on the time machine.

Zach Lowe is just giving his opinion and not claiming he knows their intentions. I’m surprised people don’t think Ujiri would roll the dice like this. I say he definitely would. They’re pretty screwed either way if Kawhi leaves, with Lowry being a year older they really have no one to build around. So he was already gambling on going for it, why wouldn’t he go for it with the best players available.
To put it another way, he knows the best way of keeping a star in Toronto is winning. You don’t think if they roll out Lowry Jimmy Kawhi that’s their best option of reaching the finals?
(Note: VanVleet is not an option to be included because we know Minnesota will not let this drag into December or January)

Houston has the best value to provide in my honest opinion

Maybe I’m just a mega homer but Eric Gordon in my opinion is a gem of a player. He’s not many levels behind butler as far as performance goes.
