I wish we could remove the influence of money in politics. However, it is a pipe dream, and since we are dreaming I would like to see term limits. One term of 4 years as a member of the house and 6 years as a senator. That's it. That way the politicians aren't constantly seeking reelection and the money to make it happen. They serve their 4 or 6 and move on.
I would say two terms would be adequate. If progressive candidates continue to win, while only taking small donor money. Things could potentially change for a few different reasons. Especially if conservatives followed suit.
in general, I have a low opinion of anyone whose vote preference is influenced by a debate performance
If anyone cares, first debate will be at 6PM central on PBS channel 8 in Houston and online at NBCDFW.com
Beto missed many opportunities to hit Cruz with a "Lyin' Ted". It would have been a drop the mic moment.
He was born in 1972. Not a millennial by any definition. You're right. Cruz is an experienced and accomplished debater. Beto is holding his own and doing quite well. Yes.
The moment Beto said "As a White man" I cringed. Even though republicans talk about race all the time, white people don't like to think they have any kind of privilege. I guess he thinks the only way to win is to get minorities to vote in big numbers so he doesn't care.
The way to win is to get the moderates. And while that statement didn’t bother me I can see it bothering many people know.
That is the reality, though. Due to shear numbers, Congressman O'Rourke does need a large turnout from minorities.
