I would love to be a fly on the wall when Taylor tells Thibs that he intends to deal Butler......... Thibs is not going to be nice about it, he doesn't give a **** that Taylor is his boss, he doesn't give a damn if he loses he job, and he doesn't care if Taylor bad mouths him to other owners.

Dream scenario: Rockets get Butler in a trade, Thibs blows a gasket and gets fired, Thibs immediately gets hired to run Rockets defense under D'Antoni.

No chance in hell it happens, but it would solve a lot.

Well, you can still get Full Trade Value. That is just dramatically reduced. Full trade value in any situation is, by definition, whatever buyers are willing to give. In this situation, it is basically equal to the value of the player for 1 year, plus the risk of him going someplace else. Which is MUCH less that the value of that player over 4 or 5 years. Particularly when said player has already mostly narrowed the market to two teams. Conversely, the only real value Butler has for Minny at this point is 1 year minus whatever they could get for that year in return. It sounds like they want the value Butler could provide to them long term. Well, clearly, after this year, that additional value to them is zero, cuz he ain't gonna be there.

If you have a car that YOU think is worth $10k, but all that anyone is willing to offer you is $2k...Full Trade Value for that car is....$2k.

They may already have one or two trade partners in mind and don't want to entertain any others for which they have no interest.

But what if Taylor tells thibs I can get you two great vets in Eric gordon and pj tucker while also getting himself some draft assets?

Does thibs say fine, considering how passionate he is about basketball

I have to admit, he is a favorite of mine too. I don't always like every decision he makes........ but the guy is tough as nails and really lives and dies for basketball.

I love that Knicks coaching tree.....

    Kittens!

According to the source, this is about a philosophy in making an impact in the Western Conference, and in Butler’s mind you can’t run down a dynasty like Golden State when two of the so-called dogs in the pack are in fact kittens.

I fear having Taylor heavily involved here makes our chance worse, he probably wants Butler gone for young pieces more than Thibs who might prefer solid veterans instead...hope i'm wrong.

I don't know for sure....... but he is sure as hell more likely to stick around if he gets Gordon and Tucker, than he would if he got some of the young players discussed.

Eric Gordon wouldn't be sad to leave, and he would have a crazy usage rate in Minnesota and Thibs likes to have a lead guard do everything on the offensive end of the floor.

    Glen Taylor..... @Nook

Nevertheless, Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor has become fully engaged in the decision-making process on a potential Butler trade and is far more open to the idea of orchestrating a deal than president of basketball operations Tom Thibodeau and GM Scott Layden, league sources said.

Hopefully Thibs stays there for coaching, that should give us a chance at least.
