I believe it was listed as Beto O'Rourke on the Democrat primary ballot, just as it was listed as ted cruz on the republican primary ballot.

I don't know...has it listed Cruz as Ted in the past? That's not his real name...

lulz, NPR just described the debate/race as an entrenched, republican incumbent against a "Spanish-speaking democrat challenger."

are you also curious if ted will be on the ballot since that is his nickname and not his real name...and he hasnt been going by ted for as long as robert has been going by beto.

I understand what you’re saying. If you or I want to have money completely out of politics. It would have to be publicly funded.

You know what my post really meant though. I don’t mean small donations to a candidate. I mean money that comes from places where people are then beholden to those donations. How are people supposed to know or keep track of all of that??

Perhaps you could have websites where you can go to read about a candidate’s stance on issues and policy. And they can stop spending so much money on dumb ass advertising. Who would let that impact who they would vote for?? Not me, but apparently a lot of super smart folks out there.

To be fair, @ipaman has been dogging Cruz since at least 2014.

I’m pretty sure he doesn’t claim to be a Republican. He’s just a weird dude that wants to see chaos.

Full disclosure, I'm not a registered Republican. Having said that, Cruz can suck a bag of dicks.

That is so NPR..... I am sure it was said in a calm, near whisper and was followed up with inquisitive sounding statements and questions.

NPR is GREAT for anxiety attacks. I had one really bad 5-6 years ago, where I was in the process of getting out of my truck to drag someone out of their car. My passenger employee put on NPR and had me breathe.... it was like magic, we went for a late lunch and the world was wonderful again.

Yeah nothing screams Texas values more than a Canadian-born attorney that graduated from Princeton.

Didn't mean to malign you. Fair to say you're one of our conservative non-libtard posters?

Not very Texan. But Beto went to Columbia. Same difference.

Just to get this straight...you believe the Canadian who's wife is a Goldman Sachs exec (and, coincidentally is Californian) has more "Texas values" than the 4th generation Texan?

Only a Californian Executive of a multinational investment bank can understand the plight of rural Texans.

Nothing but someone claiming that the Democrats should be running a candidate with "Texas values" is laughable considering Cruz's background.

It has an awesome campus though. I walked around with my son for a few hours there last month. He even has his own Princeton soccer shirt now lol

O'Rourke's platform is counter to the majority of what Texans want, thus his values don't match his constituency.

I guess we'll see in about 6 weeks who's values Texans agree with more. Though, I'm not sure you're as right as you'd like to think you are. For example, Beto O'Rourke believes in universal background checks for all gun owners. From a Quinnipiac poll taken earlier this year, so do 93% of Texans polled.
