If I am Kavanaugh and I am falsely accused, I would urge FBI stepping in immediately. If I am guilty, I would ask for 'evidence' and hoping FBI never touch this.

The same Ari that repeatedly lied about his involvement in the Plame Affair, including lying before a grand jury? Yeah.. very credible.

FBI is a bunch of deep state democrats per Trump - they will find dna evidence and will also place drugs at the place of the crime to further smear the impeccable judge. Can't trust those folks. Better leave it to the "unfazed and determined" committee council Davis instead.

I agree with you that they made a tactical mistake and at this point a majority of Americans do not want him on the court. Women especially have not liked how this has played out. This will be the second of 5 Republican Justices on the Court that have been accused of sexual assault. Couple that with the long history of Trump’s problems with women and it could politically backfire on the Republicans.... time will tell.

Do you really want to compare a college professor that has never been in trouble to a prostitute that already had a criminal record of theft and had made false allegations of rape prior to the Duke scandal?

The lacrosse prostitute lied because she is a criminal. He has so far had a charge of attempted murder, and a conviction for second degree murder. Also child abuse, fleeing from the police and numerous domestic violence charges.

The college professor? None... no history of false allegations or criminal behavior.

Did you report him then? Would you WANT to report him if you saw him on tv getting a nobel peace award? Would you remember his name if he was a friend at the time of the assault? (I'm assuming that you are being serious).

I'm not comparing them. You are. I was asking a general question as to why anyone would make that kind of thing up and using the Duke thing as an example. I was only pointing out that fake sexual assault claims have occurred. I said we don't know what happened with Kavanaugh and this woman and I am not going to speculate on her motives, but you didn't quote that part... just the one line about Duke. Also, unless a new development in this story occurs I don't think we will ever truly know. Right now it is just 2 guys saying it didn't happen and one woman saying it did. It will be democrats believe her and republicans believe Kavanaugh. It doesn't matter how good or bad she looks on the stand. Short of her admitting she made it up democrats will stand behind her and barring any new evidence republicans will stand behind Kavanaugh.

But it is their job. They are the ones who investigate SCOTUS candidates and do their background checks.

You did speculate that she is trying to get more time to prepare as it was some kind of smear campaign backed by the DNC. So clearly you are suggesting it is not a legitimate accusation and the Republicans need to rush through this and avoid talking to any potential witnesses. Just have her testify and then have Kavanaugh deny everything and then have all the Republicans say, "it's his world against hers". That works out well for you. What wouldn't work out well is to make Mike Judge testify under oath.

can't vouch for the accuracy of the actual demands

    https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2018/09/fords-ridiculous-demands.php

    FORD’S RIDICULOUS DEMANDS
Citing “sources,” Fox News’ Shannon Bream reports on the demands Christine Blasey Ford and her legal team are making as a condition for her testifying about her allegations against Brett Kavanaugh:

Ford team wants NO questions from lawyers, only Qs from Committee members, #Kavanaugh cannot be in the room, Kavanaugh must testify FIRST – more to come …

These demands are absurd. No questions from lawyers? I guess Ford wants to be able to claim she’s being persecuted by an all-white-male panel. She doesn’t want a woman to examine her, which I imagine is what the Republicans have in mind.

But effective cross-examination is the best way to get at the truth. And in-practice lawyers, not politicians who once may have practiced law, generally make the best cross-examiners.

If Ford is telling the truth she shouldn’t be afraid of lawyers. The Committee should reject this demand.

Kavanaugh can’t be in the room? Say what? Ford is accusing Kavanaugh of a crime. Criminal defendants aren’t booted out of the courtroom when their accusers testify. As the accused, albeit not in a criminal proceeding, the interests of justice demand that Kavanaugh be confronted with the witness against him.

Kavanaugh must testify first? Give me a break. The accuser always goes first, whether in a criminal or a civil proceeding. How else can the accused defend himself against what’s actually being alleged?

I hope that the swing GOP Senators — e.g. Flake and Collins — will see the absurdity of Ford’s demands, so that Chairman Grassley confidently can reject them outright. If he does, there’s a good chance Ford will back down. If she doesn’t, the Committee can vote immediately.

It it's a trial then why not bring in Mike Judge and other witnesses? If it's not a trial then why are you worried about who goes first and cross-examination.

Which way do you want it? You can't have your cake and eat it too. You right wingers get so crossed up in your zeal to be right.

Lou, you seem particularly angry this morning. Why not take a break and go have breakfast or something? ;)

Where/when did they say that. First, only the White House can request/direct the FBI to investigate. The victim of kavanaugh's attack can't. Nor can the Senate. Nor can the FBI start up an investigation on its own. Has to be the White House. And second, the FBI can and does perform background checks on federal appointees.

Actually, you are comparing them. And short of kavanaugh admitting he sexually assaulted her, republicans will defend and want him approved, no matter what evidence or collaborating testimony. Just as they defend and support trump, no matter what he did, says, or does.

I take it that by avoiding my questions you are acknowledging that you have no counter response other than to patronize me.

Hmm... how did the Senate subcommittee know to reach out to these unnamed people? See thread...

I think Mike Judge would be awesome to have testify.
