I want to run guys like Tucker and Butler at the Warriors. Yes I’m being selfish. The Rockets would be ridiculous with both. Has to be a way to get it done if a deal is to be made here at all.
If they could keep either Tucker or Gordon and still get Butler, that would be excellent. I don't think they would be able to though.
He's already explained it in his own inimitable Holic way: He doesn't want us to trade Tucker and he doesn't think we should. Ergo, since all basketball geniuses are of like mind, his fellow genius Dorrel Maori certainly shares that point of view. Hence, we are not trading Tucker.
We can’t even take back Dieng if we wanted to. EG + PJ + Nene + Zhou Qi wouldn’t be enough salary for Jimmy and Dieng. Isn’t the rest of our roster untradable until December? EDIT: I guess we could trade Knight for Dieng in a separate trade. That’s only saving a year of bad salary.
I would h as te to lose either of them but for Butler you have to do it. Only thing is we become super thin at PF.
Unless you made a 2nd trade, consecutively, of Brandon Knight for Dieng. Something like that. Would prefer Taj Gibson, but Dieng’s is the crappier contract that Minnesota would likely unload.
Why wouldn't Minny wait until more trade pieces are available and ask for Capela and Knight for Butler and Dieng?
You have to look at the players they were clashing with. Paul clashed with Blake Griffin. The reality is that Griffin is a mental midget and a loser. Harden clashed with Dwight Howard.... another mental midget. Anthony has had some clashes with guys that were not losers so I cannot defend him other than to say he knows he is on his last leg. As for Butler, he isn’t a perfect teammate. He has had issues with guys and even with Thibs. The difference is that most of the people he has had run ins with were losers... like Hoiberg. The problem with Butler is that he is a bit like Kobe, he is blunt and not diplomatic. If there was a team where that would work, it would be the Rockets because they are veterans and all want to win... which Butler respects. At some point Butler would criticize MDA and Harden or Capela... he does that, but I don’t think that would split the team. The issue is that I believe Butler wants to go to a big market AND win AND be a star. He has gone from a non prospect, to a niche role player to a starter, to an all star and arguably a top 12-15 player. He isn’t satisfied with that... he wants more and will not stop until he gets it.

So it would come down to either A) EG + Nene + Zhou Qi + Picks for Jimmy Knight for Dieng B) EG + PJ + Zhou/picks for Jimmy Knight for Dieng Morey would probably like to get back Tyus as well and Taj instead of Dieng but Minny wouldn’t. Yeah this trade won’t happen
maybe if we promise to hire thibs as the defensive coordinator jimmy will put us atop his preferred list.
