That's you believing that the woman wrote the letter intending for it to always remain anonymous.....and that's laughably naive, even for you. If someone tells you about a rape allegation that you think is valid, you go to the police with it. You don't sit on it until it is most useful politically.

Also, if they thought there was ANY truth to this, that's exactly what they'd have done. They know it's BS and they don't expect it to stand up to scrutiny, they are just hoping to delay the confirmation till after the midterms, or to use the fact that the Republicans dismissed this pathetic delay tactic as a wedge issue in the midterms.

You ask like if GOP ever cared about morals or character - that Trump is in the white house is sufficient proof.

She passed a lie detector test given to her from the FBI - I think that's makes her claims credible and serious enough that we should not confirm this justice until a full investigation has been completed.

Yes, that is why I believe it deserves investigation.

Can you with a straight face say that the hearing was nonpartisan? Even RBG and Bill Mahr highly disapproved Democrats childlike behaviour during the hearing.

What in your opinion is there to be investigated? There is 0 physical evidence and 0 corroborating witnesses.....about something that happened 35 years ago. Again, the reason they sat on this so long is because they knew it had no chance of standing up to scrutiny. If it did, then they'd have come out with it long ago and would be charging him with something at this point.

We are all guessing but it's not hard to see that Feinstein didn't report it immediately because Ford wanted to remain anonymous. Maybe she also needed time to vet the story. Whatever it is, she eventually did turn it in when it leaked (and if you read what I quoted, it was likely from another source).

It's not random. The person has a name, a job, a family and put herself and family up there for public scrutiny, attack and loss of privacy. She passed a lie detector test and reported this incident to her therapist in 2012. I find those credible enough to think an investigation is now in order. This is how we have expected it to work - if you accuse someone, go public with details. It's not a new precedent or standard.

I'm not too worry you can do this to anyone. It's not like you can easily find someone that would be willing to publicly lie and suffer for it. I would agree on your point if this remained an anonymous accusation.

Your response is ridiculous. There would never be corroborating witnesses until an investigation is initiated that would actually interview people and find out if there is corroboration. The statute of limitations has passed in the case I believe. The accusal isn't one of actual rape in the first place. The woman had the guts to come forward despite knowing that a million idiots would attack her. It makes sense that she wants to remain anonymous.

There are even other witnesses who contradict the woman's claim so it is far from decided that the claim is 100% true. But it is worthwhile to investigate. She volunteered for a polygraph test and passed. There is no time limit on when the nominee needs to be confirmed. There is no reason not to investigate. If it turns out that the claim is without merit then so-be-it.

Like I said, I don't believe he should be confirmed but it isn't because of this allegation at this stage of the game.

    Typical inhumane conservative BS

If you are informed of an alleged rape by the supposed victim, you try to convince and support the victim to come forward to report it, not rush to the police like some tattletale. when the victim might not be ready to deal with the emotional consequences.

Most women are raped by people they trusted and struggle to even come to terms with the reality. The victims safety and emotion comes first. But then you lack the decency to appreciate that.

You dont care about the victim or the veracity of the claim. Probably would still deny it even if you saw it happen in-person. All you care about is your conservative SCOTUS and the opportunity to take away the rights of others

Anyways, call Feinstein whatever you want, she is a politician and is not surprising if she was clumsy in trying to use something for political again. After all. she is a democrat and lacks the natural fluidity and adeptness with which republicans carryout such political attacks. She is not up for SCOTUS and hasnt been credibly accused of rape - that would be Brett Kavanaugh!

and you would probably cause more harm to the victim if she is not ready. But then you dont care about the victim

I think it's probably evidence that she's not very mentally stable if she's talking to her shrink about a situation where nothing really happened 30+ years ago. I mean, the allegation is that nothing actually happened.

There can't be corroborating witnesses to something only witnesses by 3 total people, 35 years ago when the 2 people that aren't the accuser have already denied it. As to the statute of limitations, it depends on the allegation, it could be "Sexual offense in the 4th degree" which is a misdemeanor or it could be attempted sexual offense or even attempted rape, those two crimes are felonies that have no statute of limitations in Maryland. She wouldn't have written the letter to a media member unless she was looking to start this circus.....and if they thought there was any legs to it they'd have reported it earlier and the justice would likely be getting charged with something right now. All they want to do is stall the confirmation in order to help during the midterms or to be able to use the refusal to stall the confirmation in order to help during the midterms.

This is a REALLY cynical political move and it's a really disgusting one that hurts real victims.

Far more importantly, can you agree that the claims of this woman should be investigated? A woman has stated the nominee tried to rape her. It is in her therapist notes from 6 years ago, and she passed an FBI lie detector. Should not her claim be considered serious based on that?

This is exactly why this allegation was sprung at the last second, this is what Democrats are hoping to say to help them save their failing blue splash. Pretty much what I've been saying all along. They'll do harm to actual victims by cheapening allegations with nonsense like this used only for political gain.

    Thought it was rhetorical

You would have to ask the victim yourself and it is irrelevant. If the victim wanted to tell the FBI, se could have done it herself

Q:Why did the GOP have a prepared letter from 65 women for Kavanaugh?

Lying to the FBI is a crime . You dont send the letter to Feinstein unless you want the letter passed on to the public or FBI.

To combat the silly smear. Are you claiming they got these 65 women before the accusations?

If there was anything to be investigated about it, sure, but it's not a claim that can be confirmed. It's just an accusation without any evidence with no possibility of ever having any corroborating evidence. You have 3 people who could possibly know what happened, 1 says the other 2 attempted to rape her, the other 2 say she is lying.....about something 35 years ago.

Again, what is there to investigate? You take statements from the 3 possible people that could know something, maybe statements from others who were there that weren't around to know anything one way or the other.....then that's the end of the investigation. The ONLY reason you want this investigation is to delay the confirmation with the hope that by some miracle the Democrats take the Senate and the confirmation doesn't happen before the Republicans lose the votes for it. You can lie about it, and I suspect you will, but that's really what this boils down to.
